Well, there's no such thing as bad music, but if there was, it would probably be Creed. >:)

Yes, yes you should
Seriously though, people's musical tastes are varied. If you like Creed that's your thing. A lot of people see them as repetitive, pompous, and overblown (me included), but that should not detract from your own enjoyment of their work. It's the same with Hulk Hogan, tastes will vary. There's no reason to be ashamed as long as you like it. Hell, logically, we should *all* be ashamed of being wrestling fans.

Pearl Jam. That guy looks like Eddie Vedder. Sounds like Eddie. Desperately wants to be Eddie. It wouldn't surprise me if his look and the band's insulting similarity to early Pearl Jam (when the mainstream audience LOVED them, anyway) was what got them the record deal.
Though Creed's frontman obviously spends A LOT of time in front of a mirror.

| #10 Posted on 1.7.02 1143.10 | I am annoyed at my semi-interest in Creed, because I feel like it's the effect of brainwashing. Vince McMahon and his evil minions put together those damn Desire videos I fell in love with to "My Sacrifice", and my good sentiments towards those somehow washed down to the band in the background after a while.
They are still pretty damn derivative of PJ, and EddVed sure would like his voice back if Stapp wouldn't mind. But then Nevermind was 10 years ago, and my 17 year old sister speaks of that era the way I would speak of New Wave (as a well-regarded but not personally felt musical movement), so all I know is I feel old now.

I like there songs, but with the over the top self important attitude and videos. I don't mind a lead singer who's full of himself, I get a kick out of that in my rock stars.
As for there video's I really think they hear some critics some in the music industry talk about Creed thinking they are so self important and on this album they truly went over the top with the video. Come on that last video in animation with Scott in angel wings fighting monsters 4 on 1 and no selling anything had to be a slap back to the critics, right....... Right?

You think that's bad, a garage band a couple of houses down tortures me with their shitty renditions of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", as well as various Blink-182 and Box Car Racer songs. -_- You'd think they could learn something new.
Anyway, back to Creed... I do like a couple of songs off their first album, but I have nothing but contempt for anything else related to the band. And that's putting it nicely. | SerWolfe

| #15 Posted on 4.7.02 0445.28 | Speaking as a musician, I think there IS such a thing as bad music. Musicians should strive to push the envelope, not by being controversial, but by mastering the art of weaving melodies and harmonies together with the result of moving people. Now, there's nothing wrong with a ground-pounding, simple riff to get things going. But I believe that human emotions are best tapped via intricate, complex works. I think the old German composers understood this well. Within the realm of rock, musicianship took a giant leap backwards in the 90s. You may think the music was great, and that's fine, but the fact remains that many of those musicians were INCAPABLE of playing beyond a garage band level. I was never really moved by anything I heard during that period in the way I know music can move me.
I encourage everyone to learn to play an intrument or develop vocal talent to enjoy both your own music and to gain a greater appreciation of others' work.

| #16 Posted on 9.7.02 2139.32 | I don't care whether you people like Creed or not but this "Pearl Jam rip-off" nonsense is complete and utter bullshit. Granted Stapp and Vedder have approximately the same vocal range (although Vedder's is noticeably higher.) I have never once heard a Pearl Jam song and mistaken it for a Creed song. If anything I can usually spot a Creed song before Stapp even sings a note (cause Mark Tremonti is that damn good (MODO))
If anything Creed takes after Alice in Chains, straddling the line between Metal and Grunge, and doing it very well in my opinion.
Edit: I also agree with every word WyldWolf1 said :)

| #18 Posted on 13.7.02 0140.21 | I liked Creed. I really really did. I loved to listen to their songs. And then I finally learned all the lyrics, and decided I didn't really need "The Word" preached to me by people I'd never meet. Even if I really liked their sound, they pissed me off so much when I listened to songs like "What's this life for" which I really liked until they got to the part about us all living under the "One true king". Grrrrrrrr..... I'm a Unitarian Universalist, so I have nothing against anybody's religion, but I hate being preached at in such an arrogant manner.

Plus, I guess I feel like I was suckered into liking the band, and then came to realize that they were assholes.
