All the rap world needs is another dead star. Everyone would then ruin his songs, and make a load of crap tribute songs. Then we would see like 40 new Snoop cd's of low quality over the next decade. I hate alot of the rap thats out now, I would hate to see one of the rappers that I like gone.

I don't hate Biggie or Tupac, but they have been so overrated by the way others talked them up since they were killed. IMO they were not the best ever, I'd lean more to Chuck D and KRS-One, but that is just my taste.

Er, yes, since the worst thing about a man's death would be the effect on his SONGS.

I think there is a great tendency to glorify people after their deaths, that holds true in any walk of life.

While agree, Biggie's glorification isn't justified, I would vehemently disagree that Pac's isn't.

Big released ONE album before he passed away and on that basis, so many have immortalized him, I don't understand how. Sure, you can argue that it was a damn good album, hell you can go as far as to argue that its one of the best of all time, but that doesn't mean Big was one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Pac on the other hand released five albums before his death and based on that, you can make a case for him being one of the greatest of all time. Each album tends to reflect his different stages in his life and while I would agree he didn't have the greatest flow or wasn't the greatest lyricist, he did have two things, his subject matter and his ability to convey his raw emotion.

For me, those two attributes allow me to stand him up as one of the greatest of all time and my personal favourite. I would loved to have seen what he was capeable of in the studio and on screen without being shackled to Death Row.

Definitely one that was taken before he got anywhere near his peak.

Don't forget his influential work with Digital Underground.

What part of "I would hate to see one of the rappers that I like gone" made it look like I wouldn't feel bad about his death? I unlike you am not a close friend of Snoop Dizzle, so it would be wrong for me to mourn the type of friend, brother, son, father, or co-worker he has been.

I only know Snoop for his music, though I do tend to mourn or feel bad for those who are young and/or die in a tragic way. If Snoop had died of a gunshot wound, then my post would have reflected on that, but he didn't. His death then would have an affect on his legacy, and effect the views of his listeners.

Who knows what kind of music Bradley Nowell(Sublime), Jimi Hendrix, Tupac, and Jeff Buckley to name a few would have done with their music. All artist that I have listed have had works that were unfinished at the times of their deaths, the music was then tweaked and released. How would we know if they would have wanted them released or thrown away? So death does have a big effect on the songs of an artist, and that is tragic as well as their passing.

To Crip: 2pac was a very good artist, and Biggie was too. I don't like how some new to the rap game spout off the two names to get street cred. I hate when other artist remix Biggie and Tupac's music, we don't know if Biggie or Tupac would have ever wanted to work with them. The CD's that they do this stuff on should be marked as a tribute CD's and not as complete unreleased works as they sometimes are.

turning his life around? maybe i'm out of the loop, but at my store, we have his line of porn and his GGW which may or may not have underage girls on it (we destroyed all our GGW tapes and dvds just in case there is kiddie porn on it. better safe than sorry...)

but i don't wish any ill-will on the man...it just seems that this "turn-around" is all a sham from my perspective. ("hey kids, daddy stopped drinking and puffing, now he's making porn and kiddie porn with the GGW folks! daddy's turning it around i tell ya!")

No more drinking, no more smoking, he's the coach of his son's pop warner football team (I'd prolly put that right under the "Giving back to the community" catagory, yeah). Nobody said he was FLAWLESS, but it sounds like he's cleaning up his act to me.

On a side note, you responded to my 5 day old post to nit-pick THAT?? Geez

Explain how his GGW DVD/Video's would have Kiddie Porn on it? I would assume the distributor would have that all checked out before hand!

The GGW guys apparently aren't very good at verifying the age of the "subjects" of their videos. In a couple of the cases, it seems they were presented with "fake" ID's that the girls had on spring break.

You could argue that it's not GGW's fault as they were "deceived", but irregardless, it becomes "kiddie porn" if an underage girl is depicted.

Despite what you may think, the people involved with GGW are good, morally clean people that would never do anything illegal.
As for Snoop, I don't like this Hizzle off the Dizzle stuff, but I dislike hearing about death in the news.
How come nobody ever tries to gun down Toby Keith or car bomb S Club 7? Why is it that rappers are more likely to be murdered than people like Bob Dylan?

I dont want to be the bearer of bad news Socks, but alas S Club have split up this week, all be it with the noteable absence of a car bombing.

One can only wonder who is 'gonna show me how' now that they have gone. Oh well, at least we still have their blockbuster movie to go see. Now if that doesnt bag a couple of Oscars next year then, well, I'll be so mad I tell you.

On the bright side Rachel might try a solo career which means a need for publicity, ergo less clothes. That is something I would certainaly applaud.

Sorry to chime in out of nowhere here, but did you just put "GGW", and "good morally clean people" in the same sentence? Oh wait, I just did. (slaps forehead)

Um, well if you comapre the kind of lifestyle Snoop has led to that of Bob Dylan's and others, it becomes pretty obvious why.

Ah but YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!

Its called 'Seeing Double' or some such and its out in a cinema near you (well near me anyway) now!

From what I understand it's set to challenge such greats from the past as 'Spice World' and 'Glitter' for sheer wonderfulness and outstanding acting ability.

I may yet get me some drunken goodness and go watch it with some friends just for the potential comedy value of it. Alas cinemas here tend to frown on drunken behaviour alleging that it 'ruins the enjoyment of the movie for others'. What piffle.
