Anyone have any experience putting shopping carts onto websites? Are there any free solutions that are any good? Or, if not, is there a particular program you'd recommend?

For me the easiest, most convenient and cheapest, the Pay Pal Shopping Cart. They accept all major credit cards, checks and of course PayPal accounts, and now the customer doesn't have to have an account to make the purchase.

Half and half. I'm selling a few t-shirts and stuff and testing the waters and we'll see how it goes.

I've got a PayPal thing set up on another site but they didn't seem to have an actual "cart" option -- just a "buy now" button. This was a couple of years ago, so maybe they've added a shopping cart since then (or I missed it!) -- I'll go look again. Thanks for the tip!

Here's a pay-pal page I did for a friend who sounds like he's kinda doing the same thing you're doing (shirts, nothing real professional, testing waters, etc). I too thought you could only do the buy now thing, but figured out that you could do a cart through pay-pal. See if this is what you were thinking of or if it's what you meant in a "cart."
Might depend on your firewall settings. I use the campus provided internet, so there are certain bandwith settings that prevent me from getting more than 4kb/s.
