Well, the other shoe well. Today, Charlie Sheen goes on the radio and says this (insidetv.ew.com)

A few hours later, CBS pulls the plug (usatoday.com) on Two and a Half Men for the remainder of the season. And, probably, for all time, since how can the show possibly go on with Sheen still involved?

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

Here I'm all set to put this up there in the pantheon of destructive celebrity behavior (Is there an equivalent to the 'Muta scale' for this?)

Then I start thinking about Andy Kaufman insisting that 'Tony Clifton' get a guest shot on "Taxi"..Tom Cruise jumping up and down on Oprah's couch.. Britney shaving her head.. Wesley Snipes going to prison for tax evasion.. O.J. Simpson...

Impressive, but not historic. I'll go 0.3

(Sucks for the show crew that loses out on their work.)

Without question Sheen has certainly entered into the Tyson Zone now.

Any Vegas line yet for the over/under on when Jon Cryer tries to kill Charlie Sheen in his sleep?

Considering that Charlie Sheen would probably be doing nothing at all if it wasn't for this show.

I question why he would burn his bridges.

Then I just realize that it's probably the drugs.

I've only seen a couple of episodes in my life so I'm not up on the cast dynamics or more than the basic premise. Ergo, this might be a naive question, but....could the show just go on without Sheen? Like, re-focus the thing around Cryer and his son, and maybe bring in a new character to fill Sheen's spot?

Maybe they can complete the circle from Spin City and have Michael J. Fox take over from Sheen.

And the ever-helpful Dana White (tmz.com) happily offers them co-main event billing this weekend. On one hand, since it's in Australia, no Nevada Athletic Comission to get by. On the other hand, I don't think Australia would let him in!

Why is this guy still doing interviews? Doesn't he have an agent or "people" telling him to keep a low profile.

Clearly he's not stable and needs some help. Sticking a microphone in front of him to see what he says next feels like so much exploitation.

Like when they would chase Britney around when she shaved her head.

Maybe we need a "Leave Charlie Alone" youtube video.

Not so much.

I hope Charlie lives to be 150 so the past weekend can remain hilarious and awesome, and not soundbite/clip material for the end of the second to last segment on his True Hollywood Story.

Apparently, they will be paid after Lorre petitioned Warner Bros on their behalf.

And the thing is that Charlie is still very much in the "I know how much I can handle, and no one else has a clue" stage. So, in his eyes, as long as he's still upright and talking, then everyone else must have screwed up.

Problem is if you go 100 miles an hour all the time, and you hit a wall, it's gonna leave a huge stain.

The way I have always understood it, Charlie is playing himself in the show for the most part. It's just his last names are different. I don't think replacing him is just as easy as getting another actor; they would probably have to change the attitude and dynamic of the character which would change the whole of the show as well.

I doubt the show would really last too long without him there. But then even before this whole mess started, I wasn't sure this show would last longer anyway. It's already been on for 8 seasons. And the kid who plays Jake is going to be college age soon, both on the show and in real life. I just can't see '2&1/2 Men' keep on going when it's soon going to be 3 grown adults on the show.
