In an update from a story posted earlier today in our daily news update, Gregory Helms will be undergoing neck fusion surgery with Dr. Lloyd Youngblood Monday and will miss a year's worth of action.
That sucks. The Chavo/Helms team was pretty fun the couple of times they worked together on SD. I'd like to see him get a nice push in the midcard when he gets back. The US Title shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility, as he looked pretty good in there when he faced off against some of the heavyweights (Benoit, Batista).
Anyway, here's to hoping everything goes OK, and he doesn't suffer any setbacks.
It always stinks when a guy goes out for a year with this type of injury. It stinks even more for a guy when he doesn't have the momentum and visibility going in that a guy like Benoit had when he had to take a year off. Poor Helms.
PWInsider says it was a mutual, amicable parting. Click Here (pwinsider.com) I feel like I've read in the past that Low Ki's a guy who gets frustrated if he's not getting pushed as much as he thinks he should be.
