Gamesindustry.biz (via the Wall Street Journal) is reporting that Sega isn't going away quietly.

Take Two Seeks MLB Exlusive Deal

Really, this is the best move Sega can make right now. But the best way to be competitive with any EA title (since they now have exclusive rights to the ESPN brand) is to make a deal with Fox Sports, who has cemented itself as the world's baseball leader. (Although the idea of a video game Joe Buck might sicken more than a few)

The best part of the article for me? Take Two is paying for this potential deal with profits from GTA!

I"m going to go out on a limb (not really) and say that any gameplay changes will be of the "very minor" variety. As lame and dull as EQ's gameplay is, it's made them an assload of money.
