Should SEGA venture back into the console business? The quick answer would be yes since the Dreamcast was a pretty solid console but the ease of piracy killed it in my opinion. Is SEGA just better off concentrating on making games for other consoles?
I'd like to see SEGA make a console, and actually, you know, SUPPORT IT. Nothing is more maddening than when you buy a console and then the company abandons it. That's what SEGA did with the Saturn and the Dreamcast.
I think if they do make a new console, they better be ready for the negativity and the skepticism. They need to make a commitment if they want it to succeed, because a lot of SEGA fans have been burned in the past few years.

Saturn and Dreamcast owners had it easy compared to 32X and Sega CD owners. The time for a Sega console is long past, they'd piss far too many people off by releasing a new console at this stage.
I'd much rather see Nintendo and Sega work out an exclusive deal that would see Sega drop support for Sony and Microsoft. (Actually, *I*'d rather see them supporting Microsoft, but I think Nintendo is much more likely.)
Good lord, a new system would be incredible if they can just find that Genesis magic of old. That being, timely Japanese ports of great, Sega-exclusive games as well as all those arcade ports that we loved on the Saturn.
Oh Sega, just sign up Treasure, Camelot and have Yuji crank out a LOVELY new Sonic that will just make us forget all about these recent 3-D abortions. I love you Sega...
Just think, new Shinobi and Panzer Dragoons NOT on that filthy lil Microsoft console. Yum.
Hah, maybe Sega's big announcement is that they're REALLY the ones behind that new Phantom console. SHWAGAGAGA.
Hell, maybe its just a new Shen-Mu. That'd be neato.
Or maybe they'll just become exclusive developers for someone. As long as its not Sony. I'd kind of feel dirty about that one.
I'm sorry, but where exactly did you get the impression that they were setting up for a HUGE (as in, new addition to the console wars level) announcement? I haven't heard any such rumblings, and was just curious if there were any rumors floating about that I was missing ...

Just so you guys know: 75% of this crap [you read on the internet] is made up, either by the writer, or the wrestler the writer is getting the dirt from. Just so you know. -- Statement by "Tammy Sytch", from Hyatte's Dec. 29th column ... Lest we forget.

There has been buzz in a few places, but I can't seem to find any that you would call credible The Sega message boards are full of posts about this supposed announcement, and I saw a few references over at Slashdot games a while ago.
Like I said, probably nothing too credible. I was just hoping.
Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.
Wind Waker? As far as I know, collecting figurines is the only thing there to do that requires a second time through. I've heard somewhere that you can understand the language that the Dragon and Jabu Jabu speak.
