Hi there;

I have a sneaking suspicion my roomie is coming into my room when I'm at work, so I want to get some proof. Well, sorta.

What I'd like to do is download a program that will record my webcam during the period when I'm at work. You know, kind of like a security tape? I don't have to be able to access the feed from work or anywhere...just as long as it saves onto my computer so that I can view it when I get back.

Can anyone recommend anything? I've toyed around with a program called WILLING WEBCAM but it doesn't work.

Thanks;

Oliver

I used to have a link to some software that let you program automatic recording times. I'm still trying to find it. But in the meantime, you could just turn off your computer monitor and still have your webcam recording. That way it records your room while you're gone without alerting anyone to its presence.

That's the thing...I don't have software to RECORD the events that occur while I'm away from my computer.

As for turning the screen off: I lock my computer and shut the lid (for lack of a better term) since I use a laptop.

My Creative Labs webcam has that type of software packed-in. It turns the webcam into a motion-capture security-type device. If it detects movement, it will save a .wmv (or is it a .mpeg?) to your HD.

You might want to poke around their site and see if you can d/l it and try to get your webcam to work with it.

A lock for the door, perhaps?

I haven't had a chance to test out the software offered on these sites: http://www.visiongs.com and http://www.digi-watcher.com (I only have a Mac right now) but it looks like the free version may be what you're looking for.

I'm just glad I'm moving; I never want to do the roomie thing ever again. :-)

Thanks, everyone, for your help.

Do you have M$ Java installed? If you do install Sun Java. And every pop up that shows up enter the url into your restricted zone in I.E. That worked for me.
