What is this I hear on ESPN that Fenway will have seats on top the Green Monster? Will it be ready for this coming season? It sounds cool to me as I win sit way up there.

Yeah, there will only be 3 rows of "stool-type" seating, from what I understand. (At $50 a piece) I went by there the other day and construction was underway. They plan to be finished by Opening Day.

The WWE could put on 2 hours of Kevin Kelly sitting on the toilet reading a phone book, and I'd still watch next week.

These seats will not only be a monstrosity, but they will not have a good view. If your sitting over 40 feet in the air over the left field wall, the line of sight will cause people not to be able to see left field. Only positive that will come from these seats is the first drunk that tries to jump onto the field from off the wall. This new ownership group really needs to go away for the Red Sox.

That's an idea. Then again, so was the Edsel.

This is blasphemy. How could they even consider blighting the Monster with seats. I'm with RSN. Can't wait for the first drunk to jump off the wall.

Not as bad as Tarping Wringley Field so people across the street can't see from the outfield.

Well first thing is that I am sure they will make it so it damn near impossible to fall off that wall. There are plenty of high places in ballparks around the country and they are all safe.

Second is that these seats will not be the first at Fenway that you cant see the whole field in. Hell in the grandstand you donít even face the infield.

Third the Monster was Blighting with advertisement many many years ago. Don't even pretend that this is going to ruin the purity of Fenway and the wall.

The bottom line is that these seats will add $1,000,000 a year to the revenue taken in from the park. When you are playing in the smallest and oldest ballpark in the majors you need to be able to squeeze the last penny. Unless you just want to give in and have the Sox payroll drop down to $75 Million?

I have no problem with advertising on the wall, except for the virtual advertising crap they pulled on TV broadcasts at the end of last season. That was distracting.
This ownership group is going to drop payroll significantly. Look at the track record of Werner when he almost killed the Padres in the early 90's and Henry when he was a clown as the owner of the Marlins. A worse combination could not have been conceived.
As for making sure there is no way to fall of the wall. Remember, we're the team that had the 'Wait til next year' headline after Lee Smith blew a lead on Opening Day '88, and whose fans have serious talks about bridge jumping on the Tobin Bridge. First Ken Ryan special by the bullpen by committee and the jumpers will be ready.

You know I kind of like this new Bullpen idea. Maybe its just the stats guy in me speaking but you do know that every other team in baseball is watching and waiting to see if this idea works.

As for the owners. I was hopping the O'Donnell would win so we can get a waterfront ballpark but need to give these guys a chance. Padres and Marlins get nowhere near the money Sox get. As long as they keep the payroll in the $90-$100 million rage there should not be a problem. There is no way they will ever let it get as bad as the Marlins were.

This is a bad idea. It ruins the whole beauty of the Green Monster. To sit out in the outfield bleachers in it's shadow is just wonderful. Sitting on top? Ugh.

Well every time I have been to Wrigley the neighbors seemed very nice and friendy. Last year they(Wrigley neighbors) were even bithcing about the Tarps themselves claiming it was hurting their business, rooftops etc.
