That was my biggest problem with the finale. That "twist" didn't make any sense. Ethan kidnapped Claire. Period.
Right, but just because Ethan kidnapped Claire, it doesn't mean that the earlier attacks on Claire weren't by Rosseau. In other words, Rosseau tried to kidnap her, and failed, while Ethan succeeded in kidnapping her. | Packman V2

Michael and Jin were arguing on the raft in different langauges, and Sawyer made the analogy.
This is a follow-up to last week's episode where the writers have Michael and Jin mirror a scene from "Empire Strikes Back." Han yells at Chewie when trying to repair the Falcon on Hoth. Michael says, "No no no. This goes there, THAT goes THERE."

He gave the guy 1600 for the motorized scooter, went through gate 23, the girls athletic team had on their jerseys which (I'm guessing) had the numbers.

"Season 2, Secret No.3: Expect to see some new faces. Dr. Arzt (Daniel Roebuck), the high school physics teacher and resident explosives expert who first appeared in the May 11 episode, will be back."

| #30 Posted on 26.5.05 2102.02 | Instant Rating: 9.00 | I got the impression that The Others live underground. One, the hatch going straight down and what tipped me off was when Sayid and Charlie got to the bonfire - Sayid says "there aren't any footprints".
Also, the monster, I'm guessing, is quite large since everyone looks up at it and it rips up trees - so how did it grab Locke and try to suck him down a hole? I just didn't get that whole scene.
And what was with the shadowy black whispy thing?
Any significance to Aaron?
Just questions and questions...can't wait for next season and also hope for a quick dvd release...

| #31 Posted on 27.5.05 0007.31 | Instant Rating: 3.84 | I definitely agree with the people who liked the season finale. I don't know what people expected to be revealed, you have to leave a cliffhanger for next season. I think we got plenty of good television. I believe the Others were the people on the boat, and the reason there wasn't any footprints is because they were on the boat not on land. Who else could those guys be? You think some guys just wandering around at sea ran into these guys and decided "hey, let's take that kid!".
As for the thing dragging Locke under? I don't know, it's obviously mechanical not monsterous. Maybe the thing that was pulling Locke and the monster were two seperate things. Maybe the "others" and the monster are sort of one team. And the island brought everyone there to save the Island and the mechanical thing was actually saving Locke from the monster, maybe Locke realized this and that's why he told Jack to have faith. Also someone suggested in a previous thread that the baby would be on one side and Walt would be on one side. Well maybe when the French women said "the voice said it was going for the baby, and the other voices said it was going for the boy" Maybe that was another sign that there are two split groups here. One being the Island itself, getting the baby. THe other being the others getting Walt.
As for the question about J.J., I think it's a great question because I think this show is very comparable with the first season of Alias. In the first season of Alias we didn't get much resolved in the season finale, just more plot twist and cliffhangers. It wasn't until well into Season 2 when we started getting answers. BUT those were BY FAR the best two seasons of Alias. Now the season finale resolves the past season and they throw a swerve for the next season on the end, and the show is pretty much crap now. So since the Lost season finale is more like season 1 of Alias I think it means that J. J. probably has a great season 2 in store for us
I don't know about the rest of you but I'm looking forward to next season more than any other show.
Also, the name "Aaron" means exalted. Is it a hint?

With the guys on the raft I so expected that after days and days of traveling they would be shocked and just end up back on the island but have the "others" show up is still good. | Matt Tracker

Also by clicking on each of the "numbers" near the bottom of the seating chart you get a short teaser trailer for season 2 that doesn't say much other than they'll go to the other side of the island and discover that "they're not the survivors they thought they were." | #38 Posted on 28.5.05 2013.35 | Instant Rating: 0.50 | I totally loved this season ender. There are a few problems i have with some of the stuff u guys said tho... If you listen closely whenever the "monster" shows up, there is like a mechanical walking kinda sound. I dont know if its like one of the otehrs in a robot suit or some crap like that, but its definately something. After thinking most of this stuff over from the show, Ive kinda come to the half hearted conclution that some of the answers have to be "mystical". Hurleys numbers are EVERYWHERE, thats not jsut some cooincidence. And Walt was really startin to freak me out a coupla episodes before they set sail. The whole "Dont open it... Just Dont Open It!" line was really freaky. Theres gotta be something mystical about that kid or something. Whether the monster or the others are under ground in the hatch, i have no idea, but the whole thing is kinda weird. I will DEFINATELY be watching this show next season. I think what the showed us in the season ender was just enough, overall: great episode
