After a few years of rumors, SCTV has finally arrived on DVD. They have started with the first NBC season (1981) of 90-minute shows in a 5-DVD set. I just got it today and the Dave Thomas/Eugene Levy commentary is worth the price alone.
"Well, you can't involve friendship with business. It has to be one or the other. It's either business or friendship, or hit the bricks!" --Life Lessons from "The Tao of Bobby the Brain Heenan" Uncensored 2000 preview
"As long as the check don't bounce, I guess he's okay with it!" --Former All Pro Giants LB Harry Carson on Bill Parcells joining the hated rival Dallas Cowboys
I just rented the first disc today ($65 is a bit too steep for me right now), and so far this stuff is amazing. I've only seen SCTV through Syndication, which means I haven't seen about 70% of this stuff. The quality of the video is amazing, especially for the age. Play It Again Bob With Bob Hope & Woody Allen, The Merv Griffin Show, and Leave It to Beaver 25th anniversary are all classic.
