This was certainly a step up from the last one. Not as good as the first one, and I think I liked this better then SAW II.
I felt dumb not figuring out who the mystery accomplice was, it made perfect sense when it was revealed, and like always, during the film, they spell it out for you but you don't put it all together until the 'money shot' ending.
Jigsaws autopsy was rather disturbing. This one had something like 10 minutes of edits for it's R rating, so when that DVD comes out unrated, it's gonna be sick!
I think the best thing about these films is how each one ties into all the others, with the flashbacks and how all the characters tie into each other as well. I feel like I need to watch them all back to back to get whats happening.
Thankfully, they do use flashback to the other films which helps the audience keep track of who is who. Without that, someone who hasn't seen the others wouldn't have any idea what the fuck's going on.
Overall, highly entertaining and better then the last two if you didn't like those. Go see it.
(oh yeah... poor Donnie Wahlberg. That was pretty gross as well...)

The traps in IV were clever once again and seeing the backstory was fun. I was severly confused when the movie ended though. My friend with me couldn't really figure out the time shifts either. It was only reading some reviews online that I saw how the whole thing played out. That's not good.
Still, this movie had enough intrigue and enough ingenuity for me to recommend it to others.

The Saw and Hostel films are 'Disney fluff' compared to the awesomeness of the 70's Italian films. Watch a fucking zombie bite a shark or shove a wooden spike in a girls eye or have a woman puke up her intestinal tract and THEN tell me these films desensitize you.
I admit they are gross and I love watching them, but I've seen far worse.

The only horror movie to ever freak me out was a little movie called CASTLE FREAK.
Nothing even comes close.
I've seen 17 movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); Die Hard 4 - (5*); Evan Almighty - (3.5*); Fantastic Four 2 - (4.5*); Hairspray - (5*); Harry Potter 5 - (4*); Knocked Up - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Mr. Brooks - (4*); Resident Evil: Extinction - (3.5*); Shrek The Third - (3*); Simpsons Movie - (3*); Spiderman 3 - (3.5*); Superbad - (1*); Transformers - (2*) |
