No, I said they have to put on Match of the Year Candidates. Considering ECW was a major influence in the Attitude Era and those so-called weak wrestlers turned out Austin, Foley, Benoit, Jericho, Eddie, Malenko and so on. The money and contract issues are what made those guys leave. The fall of ECW had more to do with bad business deals than it not working. Do you thik the WWE would create a three hour documentary on an organization that didn't work. ECW probably had more to do with the wrestling boon that anyone wants to admitt. No one was watching Bret has champ, WCW only got popular with the NWO angle and Vince was one bad Wresltemania from closing the doors. ECW came in did the death defying stuff, people wanted to see, because the alternative was eihter the boring WWF style or southern wrestling taht lasts about ten minutes with Hogan in the main event. ECW gave people an alternative which Vince took a hold of. Vince saw the fans ate it up and ran with it. If you want to see how popular ECW was I give you the hardcore division on both WCW and WWE. I give you the pushes of characters like Austin, DX and Sable during the 90s. ECW was doing the same thing, but they did it first and no one is going to disagree with that.

Hogan is washed up, he can barely tie his own boots. He just needs the Hall of Fame of induction and leave. He has done more to kill wrestling in the last ten years than anyone else. Even his last WWE run wasn't spectacular and his ego was way too big for him to think he should be in the main event anymore. Macho Man needs to shut up and Hogan needs to just go away.

Say what you want about Hogan and his backstage politics, but the nWo and the late-90s wrestling boom would never have happened and been as successful as it was without the Hogan heel turn. Hogan TWICE brought wrestling out of the shadows and into the mainstream, in the mid-80s and the late-90s. Only one other wrestler, IMO, can lay claim to bringing wrestling into the mainstream as Hogan did and that's Steve Austin. Hogan brought more mainstream attention to wrestling than anybody else and thus made more money for all others involved in the business than anybody else.

He also lead to the destruction of one of the most powerful wrestling organizations at the time. He also pushed himself while talent was jumping ship to the competitor. I agree Hogan has had a huge influence over wrestling, but lets look it at both ways. He did a lot for wrestling both in good and bad terms. I just think people have a very nostalogic feeling about him when in actuality he did a lot of harm to wrestling. I do agree with a lot of the points made here, but I am so bitter about the end of WCW, so I admitt biased here. However, it still doesn't change to what happened to WCW and to the WWF when he came in and when he left.

I don't know much about ROH... but they are coming to Jersey in early December; is it worth checking out?

Yes. Yes it is. I personally haven't spent any money on WWE product since the PPV after Wrestlemania, but I've bought a bunch of ROH dvds and been to 4 of their shows in that time, and have never felt like I did not get my moneys worth.

I don't really see what you said that refutes any of the points I made A Fan, but to streamline my general direction here I think sending the guys out there to kill themselves like they did in ECW in retarded because they're going to leave for an easier job with WWE first chance they get, and then you're left with nothing. If we're going to look at the good and bad of Hogan, you've got to look at the good and bad of everything, including ECW which you blatantly refuse to do. If we can credit all the boom of the attitude era to the ECW attitude, we can also credit the necrophilia and baby-killer angles of today to ECW, who brought smut and trash into the wrestling ring long before Vince Russo was allowed to.

He didn't cause the fall of WCW, no matter how many haters suggest he did. If you look at the history of that company, it was in the red for years before and couldn't get anything going. It was poorly run and boom or not, it HAD to eventually fall prey to its own pitiful business practises. Hogan got in, created a massive amount of interest with a heel turn, and was forced out. Then, with that cancer gone, with Russo having free reign, they still couldn't do anything that was even remotely interesting. It became completely unwatchable toward the end, and that was a lot of people's fault.

To get serious in wrestling you need two things: big money backing and deep TV exposure. TNA has one, but Panda's pockets aren't McMahon-family deep. Until they get some billionaire Ted dough behind them, they can't compete, I don't care what they put in the ring.

Oh, jeez. I add my well-wishes and condolences as well. It's always difficult to lose your mother or a mother-figure in your life, maybe even more so at Maven's relatively young age.
