Wowee wow wow wow. What a game (well, second half).

I was going to talk about how the officials were in the tank for the Colts, but since the Colts didn't win I have less of an argument.

I was all ready to become a believer in Philip Rivers, except Billy Volek came through, too - so I have to give it up to the O-line instead. Still...maybe we can take some of Peyton's commercials and give them to Rivers, 'cause that guy's a hoot. I LIKE that he's interacting with the crowd - Dierdorf thinks it's a punk move, but he's never won anything and is bitter. That's how I see it, anyway.

With all those injuries, I don't see how they can have ANY chance against the Patriots....but they beat the Colts, man, that's got to count for SOMETHING. (Not enough.)

I disagree. The Patriots haven't looked superhuman to me since the win over Buffalo in Week 11.

Play of the game may have been that BOOMING punt from the San Diego punter from his own end zone with 1:40 to go. He put that ball on the Indy 20.

Also, I love Tony Dungy. I hope this isn't the end for him.

Second and goal for Indianapolis and they fan everybody out into a blatant pass play when they didn't need to and I'm yelling "RUN THE BALL YOU IDIOT!"

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

I'm glad to see that the absolutely horrible holding call against San Diego on what should have been a 80+ yard INT return for a TD for Cromartie just before halftime wasn't the difference in the game. (I mean, it was doubly bad because not only did the Charger blocker have his hands inside the Colts would-be tackler on the block, but the Colts player dragged the Charger blocker to the ground.)

Props to San Diego for their absolutely tremendous effort, but New England's gonna choke a bitch next week for sure, especially if Rivers & Tomlinson can't play. The Chargers pretty much left it all out on the field today.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

I love it, I love it, I love it!! Seriously, Peyton Manning's failures are my joy in life. I can't get enough of him losing when it counts. It's just plain karma for the unnecessary propping up of the Mannings as some kind of football god family when they've got a combined one(1) championship. They're allowed to fix the draft, allowed to whine and moan and complain in uber-selfish fashion about the Heisman trophy, and we as a nation just let that all slide? Well, karma doesn't. Suck it, Peyton. Charles Woodson is BETTER THAN YOU.

Oh, and so are the crippled Chargers. See you next year.

Woohoo! That was a really exciting game, just amazing to see the Chargers win. Rivers, if he can't play next week, should really just do laps around the field throwing things at random Patriot fans.

Of course, this sets up the second annual Pats-Bolts showdown in our household, as Future Mrs. Goon is a diehard Patriot fan. She's already excited over what should be a guaranteed win next week. I'm going to have to ask for odds.

Great game, but damn! I was SO counting on Indy to knock off the Pats. I don't give the Chargers ANY chance next week.

What a great game!!! That stand inside the 10 with 2 minutes to play reminded me of the Chargers' goal line stand against the Steelers back in the 1994 AFC Championship game. The Bolts' defense made plays when they had to (see: Weddle's one-hand pick at the 2, Merriman tripping up Manning on the 4th and goal play from the 7).

Vincent Jackson had a huge game. The pass from Rivers to Chambers on the opening drive of the 2nd half was perfect, and what the hell was with Billy Volek? He played like hell in relief of Rivers late in the season, and pulls the winning drive straight out of his ass.

The officials were horrible today, though. There was the phantom holding call against Weddle on Cromartie's pick and the alleged interference on Clinton Hart when he didn't touch anyone. Like CRZ, I figured the officials were in the bag, but the Chargers persevered, they adapted, and the overcame. Bring on the Pats!!!

I kept thinking the fix was in. How many of those calls where from #59 BJ? It was bad enough I was trying to track it...

Did it seem like the other official was trying to correct the bad penalties during that 3 flag sequence in the third quarter ?

What a game!

Does this win mean Norv Turner has earned some respect in San Diego?

While I still don't like our chances, I don't think next week will be an easy win for the Patriots. I think we'll give them a solid run for their money.

First guess, not second guess: Colts should have kicked the field goal to make it 1 point with 2 minutes to go and 3 time-outs. If you can't stop a team without it's QB and RB in that situation, you don't deserve to win anyway.
Chargers are going to have a difficult time knocking off the Patriots: Long flight home from Indy, longer flight to New England, team is banged up, and the HIGH temperature for next Sunday is forecasted at around 15 degrees.
I think we can all agree on 1 thing: Marty wouldn't have won this game.

The game was really good, but also really frustating for me. I had the Colts winning, but every time they took the lead in the 2nd half, the Chargers answered right back. You think that with their starting QB, their starting RB, and their starting TE all injured, the colts would be able to make a stop at some point. But Volek had a great sreies to take the lead for good in the 4th. That said, count me with the majority that says San Diego will get steamrolled by the Pats at Foxbourgh.

I've thought about it, and not only was this game sweet because of Peyton being Peyton (King of the Chokers) but because now all the "hope" for Patriots haters has basically been dashed. I love that because, even though I'm a Steelers fan, all the Pats hate this year has been completely irrational and illogical. "Good vs Evil"?? Give me a friggin' break. What's "good" is laughing at Peyton Manning failing yet again.

Starting off the year with a cheating scandal (in which the coach and team are fined a considerable amount of money) and then turning around and having an undefeated season doesn't exactly garner fans for a team.

Yeah, and if the two things you mentioned were at all related, even a little bit, people might have a good reason for hating the Pats.

Well there's the cheating, the coach being a HUUUUGE dickhead and of course if you can rationalize not hating Randy Moss after that crap he pulled in Oakland well you're probably Bill Simmons.

But hey hating Peyton Manning makes PERFECT sense cause that guy is such a jerk.

The fact that they proved, in the end, that they didn't need to cheat is the issue. If you cheat because you need to in order to win - that's being a Class A jerk. When you cheat superfluously - well, that another level of jerkiness.

If the Pats win the Superbowl, there MUST BE AN ASTERISK!!
