One of my favorite tag team matches of the year in TNA. This is not saying much because they dropped the ball in the tag division after the beer money break up but still it's good to see the division starting to produce matches like this. Surprising outcome, Angle/Aj vs Kaz/Daniels is coming.
Gail Kim(c) vs Tessmacher - Good
I feel like Brooke outperformed Gail, with true honesty these girls deserve respect. They made a great effort and it ended up being a high quality KO's match.
Robbie E vs Robbie T vs D-von - who gives a shit/bathroom break
Anderson vs Hardy - Ok
Not bad, not good. The finish was awful I feel like this was a filler match without any true heat between them.
Bully Ray vs Austin Aries + 2 epic promos - MOTYC in TNA
Twittah, Myspace, Cabzilla = best heel in pro wrestling today. These guys are pure gold, Aries badassery during that match was legit considering that insane bump BS aside I could see them stop the match after the sick bump Aries took but the man is amazing, even with his back like that he was able to make the brainbuster on Ray... respect. Ray really made him look like a megastar.
Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles - Good
I was really into the match and loving every spot until fucking KAZ/Daniels interfered. In the end I felt like this match did what it had to do and was pretty enjoyable, TNA please make a Angle vs AJ DVD. Gusseing we'll get Daniels and Kaz Vs Angle and AJ At Slamiversary. Bobby Roode(c) vs RVD - Solid
Some entertaining bumps and they used the gimmick well so... solid. But the best part of this match was the ending, intended or not I liked it. RVD high risk style failed on him when he needed and Roode like the opportunistic that he is, capitalized it.
Overall one of the best ppvs TNA has put on in the Bischoff-Hogan era
There are a few matches I think I'll check out sometime next week. It's too bad that instead of the Joe Park promo that read like an Impact segment and Crimson/EY, they couldn't have filled that time with a potentially PPV quality match. Crimson & Robbie T better not get matches on the 10th anniversary show while many better wrestlers sit at home again.
I'm surprised they switched the tag belts. The match and the challengers were poorly built, and the AJ/Daniels/Kazarian feud not only doesn't need the belts, but the belts will likely be marginalized by the lame Dixie aspect of the feud. The past few tag title switches were very poorly done. Morgan & Crimson got a random title match despite teaming maybe once and feuding with each other at the time, and won in a squash. Joe & Magnus lost to Morgan & Crimson 4-5 times straight and finally won the belts only due to Crimson turning on Morgan. Daniels & Kazarian win the belts after losing every match they had the past two months, including a 3 minute handicap match, and having very little interaction with the champs because they were occupied with an unrelated storyline. I hope this doesn't lead to Joe & Magnus sitting on the bench next to the Guns now that the belts are wrapped up in the AJ, Daniels & Kazarian feud and there are no other heel team for them to feud with.
I'm glad Aries won, but after getting laid out nearly every week, I wish he'd won clean w/o there being a distraction any where in the match. I'm interested in seeing where they go with him next since it appears Bully is moving on, and the X Division has pretty much disappeared and even if it was still present, Aries has moved well past anyone left in it, but there currently aren't any upper level heels for him to feud with who aren't already feuding with someone.Glad RVD gave a honest effort for the first time in like two years.
This was a really strong show that was much stronger then last months PPV that had much better build. It is sad that such a strong PPV got little build and felt more like a placeholder than any other PPV this company this PPV has put on. The fact that the show was on Mothers Day might mean they got even less buys than usual which is sad because everyone busted their asses and put on one of TNA's strongest PPV's in years. Aries Vs Ray was a fantastic match, The match had a good back story and really the best build of any of the matches. They told a great story and had the crowd in the palm of their hand and the match had great intensity and for once the right guy went over. I really wish this feud would go on as these guys have great chemistry. Poor Bully Ray will likely be thrown in another feud with Abyss. Ray can do many things, but he can't make Abyss interesting. Not sure what they do with Aries now. He deserves to be pushed to the top as does Ray. The tag title match was really good and while I'm fine with Kaz and Daniels winning the titles, I feel TNA missed the boat in the Magnus-Joe tag team as they did nothing with them. I thought they had an interesting dynamic and they never really gave that tag team the spotlight or character development. I was hoping we'd get a MCMG Vs Daniels and Kaz feud, but it looks like we'll get Angle and AJ against Kaz and Daniels instead. The match should be awesome with three of the best wrestlers in the world and Kaz is really good, but the Styles-Daniels feud is tired.I rather rebuild the tag division with real tag teams instead of a super team like Angle and Styles. I do have to say I get a kick out of Daniels' heel character and am glad he's getting his best push in years. I think he's as entertaining as he's ever been. Anderson Vs Hardy wasn't very good and the finish was stupid. Anderson is awful in the ring and a brutal, brutal promo guy and is so annoying. Not looking forward to their rematch.Tessmacher Vs Gail was better than expected. Brooke has improved a lot so kudos to her. I still rather see Gail taking on Angelina and Sarita though. The TV title match stunk to high heaven. The Robbies should be released and Devon should be an agent. RVD Vs Roode was a very strong match with the right finish. Nice to see Roode go over Anderson and RVD cleanly the last few weeks. That will only help Roode's cred. RVD for one of the few times in his TNA run busted his ass and looked good in the ring. He's still stale as hell and a heel turn would do wonders for him. Angle Vs Styles was really good and it was nice to see Styles in a showcase twenty minute match for the first time in forever. All in all, this was a very good PPV and maybe it should not be a surprise that TNA put on a good show with Hogan and Bischoff not being backstage last night.
This has been quite a few weeks for the Clique. Between Triple H and HBK tearing the house down...and neither one jobbing to the Outsiders announcing a return to the Indy circuit, it's been a memorable couple of weeks.
