Just read on the A1 posting board that Sable and Marc Mero seperated because of her return to the WWE. Supposedly, he feels it made him look like a fool for leaving originally in support of her.
Can anybody verify? There was no credit given by the poster there, but I know that some of them post here, too.

Thanks,

Kathy

If there's anything to this (and this is the first place I've heard this story), I would say it's because Mero is pissed that Rena going back didn't earn him an invite as well. Let's face it...if he hadn't left on his own he would have been shown the door when Rena sued them anyway the same way Gangrel was basically shit on over and over again when Luna got turfed in early '00.

I still find it funny that of all the retirement matches that guys have lost over the years the only one that has really stuck was Mero losing to Duane Gill. Seems somehow appropriate.

For what ever reason I was a huge fan of Johnny B. Badd in WCW. The Badd Blaster, Shawn Michaels totally ripped that off at Wrestlemania X9. The Little Richard look and song. And the kiss that don't miss punch, and then he would take some fake lips and paste it on the guys cheek. I enjoyed that character why more then I was suppose to.

As for the Sable and Marc relationship, I haven't heard anything on it.

Thanks X-Pac. I missed the WON part.
Of course, we know that Sable made that guy popular, but I thought it was cool the way he stuck up for his woman when he left, although I agree it was just a matter of time for him to get fired.
I'm just wondering what McMahon is thinking. It seems like he hires people just to mess with their lives.
Take Flair, for example. Now, they just showed the last Nitro match on Confidential with Sting and Ric tonight. It's wasn't THAT long ago, but Flair looked 100% better than he does now. Sure, they have him cutting promos again, but when he talks about Space Mountain now, you have a REAL hard time buying it. He's been killed off in my opinion as a credible former champion by the months and months of playing Triple H's valet.
It's sad what people will do for money. Now they have Sable playing Flair to Vince's Trip, strippin and lessie-ing (sp?), stuff she said she'd never do...
Think Sting's thinking about doing this and having it happen to him?

Sting's reportedly already backed out of WWE talks because they couldn't agree on how many dates he'd work. TNA says he'll be an occasional performer, which sounds about what he was looking for.

I think the lesbian stuff is Vince's way of getting back at her. He did that sort of ritual humiliation thing when Davey Boy came back a few years ago. Bret Hart said it was like a dog rolling around in its own filth so a little while later you had Davey Boy rolling around in what was sold as actual dog shit.

After Sable's lawsuit went away WWF was adamant in saying they did not give her any kind of settlement. I assumed that they kept Marc Mero on their payroll so they could pay them off.

Mero was a FANTASTIC ratfuck heel for the duration of the Sable angle-he'd put Test to shame in the Stacy storyline. Remember his trick inside cradle on her at Over The Edge '98? Genius.

411wrestling linked to an article about Sable, in which Marc is referred to as her ex-husband. Unless they are referring to her storyline, but I couldn't recall an actual divorce as part of the Mero vs. Mero feud.

"She was one of WWEs superstars from 1996 to 1999, winning the Womens Champion belt, battling ex-husband Marc Mero in the ring and spreading the WWEs appeal in 1999 as the first woman given two Playboy covers in one year."

I don't buy it. He's still featured prominently in photos on renamero.com, and wasn't it Marc who broke the news about Sable re-signing (as President of Rena Productions or some comparable title)?

How hard would it be to kayfabe a Colorado Springs Gazette reporter? (I guess we could email him since they helpfully provided his email address at the bottom of the story....naah)

You're right, CRZ. This could all be a setup to generate interest in getting him back in the WWE too. You know - the more chatter about her, the more interest in her lovelife, etc.
They always seemed like money-hungry people, but from what I've read, most of those wrestlers seem that way, don't they?
Man, maybe it's just me, but with the Trip/Steph connection on both shows and this Sable bit, the WWE is starting to remind me of XPW. Not good.

I don't see why they couldn't bring Mero in -- that is assuming he is still with Rena.

He did get over on his own in 96 but very gradually and with her at his side. But he got over because of his ring work.

I always liked his "Marvelous" Marc Mero character better though when he stopped the highflying stuff for the most part (the exception being the Merosault of course) and added to his ground stuff. I thought his music was great (I always used it for my create a character in the WWF video games).

I have a very vivid memory from Rumbler 98 when Austin's music hit and everyone in the ring stopped fighting to turn towards the entrance way -- Mero was just there in the back of the ring hopping around when Austin snuck in and stunnered his ass off the top rope.

I think Mero would be a good addition to the WWE roster as a veteran wrestler to help some of these younger guys learn the ropes and he has always seemed like a good company guy. Plus, I don't think he's that old really.

Put him on RAW so he doesn't have to interact with Sable and give him a "Cassandra" gimmick. Where he always gives advice to younger wrestlers (RVD, Nowinski, Trish, Hurricane, Rodney Mack, etc.) but they never listened and end up getting pounded when if they had listened it would have worked out.

The guy's not the marquee actor but he could be a great character actor.

Meltzer says they're seperated and living in different houses. Supposedly, he was seen as a problem in their last tenure, and Sable had to agree that he would have nothing to do with her job (as a wrestler or an agent) as a condition of getting rehired.

Wow --- didn't know that. Chalk that up as another example of `life imitating art' in the squared circle.

Ugh, the thought of Sable hitting on the young guys from Smackdown gives me the creeps.
