As many know RVD has been out for the past few weeks with a recent "knee" injury. His past partner Rey Mysterio chose a new tag team partner last week on Smackdown!, Eddie Guerrero. It seems Eddie and Rey make a great tag team and will most likely be involved in the fight for the tag belts. Had RVD not been injured, he would have been with Rey.

Obviously there is no chance for him to get back with Rey, but is it possible that RVD will possibly get a run at the Cruiserweight or even U.S. belt? Maybe Vince and Teddy will finally come to their senses and utilize the high-flying Mr.Thursday night. Sure his interview and public speaking skills aren't the greatest, but I think he's got a shot.

I'd be in favor of a RVD title run but I don't think Teddy Long would have any say in what happens. He's just an on air talent, the same as Eric Bischoff.

Personally if they could build a good heel out of him(ala the ECW days I've heard much about) he could be an effective Upper Midcard belt holder again.

He'll probably get the US Title eventually. Crusierweight Title would be a big step down, though.

Really, like shinstrife said, if they could just build a good character out of him (not necessarily a heel), like he had in ECW, he'd be fine. The arrogant asshole who think he's better than everyone else and is the whole reason people are even watching is an entertaining character. A guy that sits around and says "Dude" and "Cool" and "The hippoes are your chi" is not so entertaining.

The answer to WWE's financial problems...

Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.

I think the success of his DVD might go a long way.
If it shows that the audience is still into him, i think there's a shot he could become a maineventer again within the next year.
he's still young.

No, he's not. He'll be 35 in December. Granted, Chris Benoit was 36 when he won the World Title last year, but Benoit had operated on a high level for so long and has nearly universal smark love. RVD's work is occasionally great but usually just adequate.

35 is still very young. It's in line with a lot of the other main eventers right now.
In terms of wrestling age, he's really young. RVD has really only operated on the national stage since 2001 (ECW was alway a niche.

And him becoming a maineventer has little to do with his work. At one time, he was one of the most popular wrestlers in the world (maybe second only to The Rock.)

I think if his DVD sells well and he comes back energized and the fans get behind him, I think there's a good chance he'll get a main event spot.

Yeah, but who knows how many years he took off his career by wrestling ECW style or by doing the high flying manuevers he was known best for.

They should use his old ECW entrance music. Seems like a small thing, maybe, it never failed to get the crowd going. Sure they would like something original, I understand their themes, but I identified that with him the same I identified the Road Warriors with "Iron Man", in the first few notes I knew I was about to be entertained.

For the curious...

WWE Main Event/Upper-Card Ages:
[Sources: Obsessed with Wrestling & Internet Movie DataBase]

Randy Orton: 24
John Cena: 27
Shelton Benjamin: 29
Trish Stratus: 29
Rey Mysterio: 30
Edge: 31
Christian: 31
The Rock: 32
Chris Jericho: 34
The Big Show: 34
Rob Van Dam: 34
Triple H: 35
Batista: 36
Kurt Angle: 36
Kane: 36
Eddie Guerrero: 36
Chris Benoit: 37
John B. Layfield: 37
Shawn Michaels: 39
Booker T: 39
Mick Foley: 39
Steve Austin: 40
Undertaker: 42
Hulk Hogan: 51
Ric Flair: 56

So, in one sense...RVD is just reaching the age where the glut of main eventers are... BUT...the majority of them have been performing at that level for a long time already.

Well, Benoit took forever to be champion; so in the end its not smark love- its mark love that makes champions, that and backstage favoritism. If they could pin a good storyline or fued on RVD, he could be seen as a champion (the people often start chanting his name when he's not even doing anything- come on, he could be champ)

and, like others mentioned- RVD is not that old, now is the perfect time to use him; before he IS old.

I like Danial Bryan. I want Danial Bryan to do well. Danial Bryan is doing well. I am tuning out. Why is that happening? Is it something The Business is picking up on? Am I an outlier?
