| #61 Posted on 27.3.03 1253.31 | Has anybody heard any final, concrete word that this match would NOT be on the PPV? I mean, last I heard, WM was FOUR hours. And even givent the fact that most WWE PPV's end about 15 minutes early, that's still a good 45 minutes to account for. That can't all be going to Limp Bizcuit, Fabolous/Cena, and the Miller Lite girls.
As far as RVD goes, one of these days you'll have to explain to me why everyone says RVD should be pushed to the moon based on crowd pops, but turns right around and ignores the reactions that Steiner, Undertaker, HHH, and Hogan get on a regular basis.
Or is pointing that out not Proper Smark Etiquette?

Some things are never meant to be explained, just accepted.

Exxxxxactly! Hence the need for acceptance over explantions :)

Damn! The one I really feel bad for is Lance. He seemed pretty stoked on his website on Monday about having a Wrestlemania match. Now he's on Heat again, for the second year in a row. I guess it's OK because he still gets to perform in front of the Safeco crowd, but you know it's gotta sting a little bit.

Incorrect! When you go to www.wrestlemaina.com and go to the list of matches RVD and Kane vs. Morley and Storm is still up there. Nothing on the site indicated they wouldn't be a part of the PPV.

Sorry Toast, I checked the site 30 sec. before my last post and it was indeed gone. It was up yesterday afternoon, but has been removed since then.
And I just realized this sucks even more, because I'm on the West Coast and Heat airs DURING Wrestlemania!

How very very odd. I just made my little way back there, and theres still just the nine matches present.
Maybes its just cos I live in the UK (and hence most folks here ain't gonna see RAW till tomorrow) but it was definately there on Tuesday. Again. How odd.

I'm not saying that RVD would shoot TNA up to WWE level. But, he would help that promotion A LOT, and would get them much bigger buyrates."
Yeah, he's got a ton more exposure from the WWE, but seeing as most normal WWE fans have probably never even heard of TNA (I know my casual wrestling buddies haven't) then it wouldn't make a whit of difference. D'you hear anyone saying "Hey, what happened to that Jeff Jarrett guy? And where is D'Lo Brown these days? AND WHAT ABOUT RAVEN?!" People who watch wrestling would just note that one of their favourites has disappeared, shrug, and move on. They would go out oftheir way to hunt down the whereabouts of him, and unlike us smarks they don't get all overzealous and vow to order every TNA PPV if RVD jumped simply to spite WWE.
Also, and this is me talking here, I don't give a flying frick if the match doesn't make it to Mania. Every other match on the card has been given some damn fine build-up, meaning this would look totally out of place and would likely leave the crowd flatter than Mena Suvari. PLus, I'm not sure what shows everybody's been watching, but Kane and RVD are hardly setting the world-or the crowd-on fire. The two are so stale right now that putting Rodney Mack Vs. Hurricane on the card would probably elicit more of a response.

It seems they changed the site from the time I looked at it, typed my post and got around to submitting it (I kept getting distracted by ACTUAL work).
My new theory is the evil people in charge at the WWE are out to make me look like an idiot...

Well, you have to have the Tag Title match, too. A title that, I'm sure, more fans care about.
Oh, and for everyone who has been stating they'd rather see 10 more minutes of Angle v. Brock, well too bad. The reason this match isn't taking place isn't because they want a long Brock/Angle match. It's because Hogan v. Vince is scehduled to go 25-minutes. So there.

Creating new stars is the life blood of pro wrestling. Steiner, Taker and Hogan are on the tail ends of their careers and should be putting over the new breed of stars.
Triple H should still be a major player but he's incredibly stale and it's terribly hard to get into any of his programs and feuds when he wins them all.

It's not like the marks live in a vaccuum. I'm sure that most of them have the internet and could probably find out real quick what happened if RVD suddenly dissappeared from WWE TV. Just imagine all the message boards that would be flooded with "Where's RVD??" posts.
And I wouldn't order every TNA PPV to spite WWE if RVD left. I'd order it so I could continue to watch him have cool matches.

So maybe RVD shold belong on the ppv. But so do Eddie, Benoit, Matt Hardy, Rhyno, Trish, Jazz, Victoria, Undertaker, Booker. THere's just not room for an unimportant match like RVD's.
And who cares if it's not on the card, you can STILL watch the match on Heat for FREE. So stop complaining.
Wow, THANK YOU. It's really no big deal that RVD is off the card. Regardless of the jaded internet opinion, he's not that big of a loss for WrestleMania. There are plenty of reasons, listed above by Quezzy, that make me not really sweat the loss of one match (that, let's face it, wasn't too important anyway). I'd go as far as to say it was just slightly more of a match to look forward to than the Taker/Jones thing.

That's a matter of taste. Looking it in one way, RVD's been having the same "cool match" for the past eighteen months. Why not simply slap in a tape and watch RVD Vs. Benoit-one of his best WWE matches-rather than pay $10 a week to see him clusterfuck on a subpar Memphis-style crapfest? And while YOU may be willing to shell out cash each Wednesday, I doubt marks would bother, especially when they can simply watch Raw and SmackDown for free and find another fave to latch onto. As I said before, marks just aren't as zealous as us; they're not going to follow a favourite to the ends of the earth, especially if it cost 'em a cool ten bucks a week to do so.
ANd in terms of interest in this match, I'm actually far more stoked for the SmackDown Slug Match than I was for this one. At least with the Taker/Jones/Train/Show deal you have the trainwreck "Will Jones totally fuck up?" factor, and four massive guys beating the piss out of each other is always amusing. Especially when Taker's involved, and especially at Mania-he's managed good matches with Flair, Kane, Diesel and Sid in the past, so I don't see why he can't make this watchable. It's preferrable to yet another boring Kane/RVD tag match which will most likely end in wacky miscommunication and be almost exactly the same as last month's PPV bout.
