From the Smackdown spoilers at rajahwwf.com:

-They announce that the Rob Van Dam/Kane vs. Lance Storm & Chief Morely title match will take place on Sunday Night Heat, not at the PPV itself. They run down the rest of the card but no new matches are announced.

**So RVD gets stiffed of his Mania payday. I guess that's what you get for getting over on your own, Rob.

Yeah, thanks for being one of the most over faces in the company, Rob, but we really need the extra time for guys who have paid their dues, like Nathan Jones.

I guess that as long as it is Angle/Lesnar or Hardy/Mysterio getting the 10 extra minutes then it's all good.

If Taker/Jones vs. Big Slow/A-Train or Trish/Victoria/Jazz goes 15 minutes, then I'm crackin' skulls.

The Hurricane main eventing a Raw show? See, the WWE is listening to the 'Net. Well, they're listening to me anyways. Look for the next push to go to Molly.

So we get 10 less minutes of a spot oriented, no-selling, mediocre at best wrestler???

As long as Lesnar/Angle gets those extra 10 minutes I'm happy.

I still don't get what the big deal about RVD is...

Well who would YOU rather see more of? The "spot oriented" wrestler or Big Show?

I think this is not only a slap in the face to RVD, but also to Kane, Morley and Storm, all of whom have worked their asses off all year.

And let's not even discuss the guys who aren't on the card at all. John Cena, the Dudleys, Christian, Test, Scott Steiner, Goldust, the FBI, Jeff Hardy, Tajiri.....couldn't somebody schedule a battle royal?

Ummmm...

I'd rather see 10 more minutes of Angle/Lesnar.

As far as the rest go...

Cena will get a post PPV mini-fued with Lesnar.
The Duds will wear the straps again this year.
Christian will attempt to interfere in the Jericho match.
Test will hopefully not get within a 5 mile radius of the ring.
Goldust will be involved in HHH vs. Book.
Hardy will interfere in the womens match.
And FBI and or Tajiri are low midcarders who shouldnt be on the card.

Storm is the only one I feel for.
Then again what do I know...
I'd rather see 10 more minutes of Angle/Lesnar than sweep,elbow,rolling thunder,top-rope kick,frog splash.

It doesn't matter if he's a great wrestler or not. That's not the point. The point is through minimal help of the company, he became one of the most over guys in the company almost overnight. He's durable, the fans LOVE him. Sure he's got many faults but the fans love Rob Van Dam.

So what does WWE do with one of their biggest and youngest babyfaces at the biggest show of the year? Put him on Heat. It's that kind of decision making that lost those millions of fans that used to watch wrestling.

I agree with TheIronGeek on his post.
Why is it anytime someone doesn't care for RVD, people bring up Albert, or The Big Show? That doesn't seem like an understandable argument.I bet that he cares even less for Big Show and A-Train.IMHO I would rather see Jeff Hardy(if we're going for "spot oriented"), though they both have the same draw backs.
I don't hate RVD, he's just not my thing. I do understand why people like him. But "The Rolling Thunder" ranks on my list of most useless moves like the "The Worm" and "The Peoples Elbow" in the history of wrestling.

The pre-Wrestlemania Heat is still part of the live card in Seattle. I may be mistaken, but just because he and Kane are "jerking the curtain" on Heat doesn't mean they don't get a Wrestlemania payoff.

Normally, the WWE puts a hot match on the pre-big PPV Heat to pull in those fans who are yet undecided on ordering the show. If the on the fence fan gets a taste of the "big event" for free with a good match firing up the 50,000 plus crowd, they may order. I know the hot promo on Heat has sold me a couple of times. If they put on a Test/Rikishi match, nobody's getting fired up. But with RVD and Kane, they can build up a hot crowd and sway those who are yet unsure.

Plus, they probably need the extra time for the catfighting beer commercial girls.

I am very much sad that the match is on Heat, as it means we will not be seeing one of our favourite stars bust his ass to entertain us all at WrestleMania like we all know he is capable of.

What, RVD? Hell no! I'm talking about Pete Rose.

That's right.

I can't believe how you're all WHINING about this. Which appearance do you think would get Rob van Dam seen by more viewers - a match on the free Heat or a match on the $39.95 WrestleMania?

Yesterday I thought, "Hey, Lance Storm will finally make it to WrestleMania!" because he's been off the show since being with the company. He's even talked about it in his web journal before. So I do feel bad for Lance.

I thought Cena was on the card. He's challenged any hip-hop types to a rap competition, hasn't he? Hopefully this'll involve Fred Durst being hit with a chair.

I wouldn't feel too bad for Rob, Kane and him are most likely winning the straps, holding them for a little while, then splitting with one turning heel, feuding, and whoever wins the fued will go on to probably main event a PPV aganist the champ. Logical booking says that perhaps something like Booker T winning the belt, RVD and Kane winning the belts, RVD and Kane loosing them before the first RAW PPV, RVD going heel.... having a match with Kane at the first RAW PPV for number one contendership at Summerslam, leading to a Booker T vs RVD main event at Summerslam. This obviously is just an idea, but simply because RVD and Kane aren't on WM doesn't mean their career is over!

No one else is mentioning this. Meltzer didn't mention it (and he was there). There's even a second report on Rajah that *specifically* mentions the graphic being shown for that match, and nothing was said about it being on Heat.

Doesn't one of the Rajah reports usually come direct off the satellite? That would at least explain Meltzer not mentioning it...

I hadn't thought of that. The live audience wouldn't know. It just seems stupid to have a title match not be part of the main card.

I think this is Bullshit. You are telling me they can't find a spot for RVD on a FOUR HOUR PPV. It's not like the match will suck, the other three wrestlers are all pretty good. It should be one of the better matches.

Without any numbers to back me up I'd say he'd be seen by more viewers on Mania than on Heat. I never watch the pre-PPV Heat. It is a useless recap of all the promo clips seen already. The bars would only pick-up the PPV, not Heat. The PPV channel people turn to at 7:30 doesn't pick up Heat. The replay and DVD would be Mania only.

I think this is worth whining over.
(Complaining about wrestling is one of the few joys in my life, please don't take that away.)

Well, WM is estimated to get likely between 750,000 - 850,000 or so buys. Heat scored a 1.1 cable rating last week, which might jump maybe 0.2 or 0.3 for the pre-WM broadcast maybe. So I guess Heat would be seen by a slightly larger number of people, assuming the cable ratings are still about 780,000 people per rating point.

Does that make up for the possible damage that can come from the perception of people that those who aren't on the WM card itself are somehow more small time and not real contenders or people anyone should care much about?
