Is this his punishment for the HHH throat injury?

I'm not happy about the RVD not being on the show, but it could be worse.

RVD can't get blamed for the shitty buyrates this PPV will do. I ain't buying it, and nobody I know is buying it.

He could be stuck in a meaningless tag team match as a partner for Jeff Hardy or Tommy Dreamer.

He could be stuck as the tag team champion and never get a singles push. (Looking at Jericho and Booker T)

He could be jobbing to Batista. (Looking at Kane)

So, it could be worse.

RVD is going to be at The World? This has got to be on eof the stupidest things the WWE has EVER done, and that is one long list.

The most over guy on RAW is not wreslting at the PPV? This just goes to prove how much pull HHH has. This has his finger prints all over it.

How else would you explain it? They can't even put him in a tag match? Or a hardcore match?

This is sickening.

This is the other side of the Brand Extension. Since each show can only showcase 3-4 matches on each PPV, there can only be a limited amount of talent from each brand. He's had an incredible 18-month PPV streak with title defenses and world championship matches. It's one show, not a death sentence.

Everyone is so quick around here to bash ANYTHING that looks like it has the potential to suck.

I know, I know, it looks really bad that RVD will be at The World. I know, I know, if something looks bad in WWE, it usually WILL BE bad. Still, let's be optimistic:

What if another wrestler shows up at The World and a melee ensues? What if that wrestler is Chavo or DeMott or someone else from Smackdown? What if it leads to RVD invading Smackdown and having ***** matches with the SD6?

You never know. Let is play out before you judge it.

ps. If you seriously think that RVD is getting buried, then you haven't been watching wrestling that long and just want to use the lingo, or else you're seeing things through hemp-colored glasses. When he jobs cleanly to Raven on heat, then you can post about how he's getting buried. Right now HHH and Shawn are busy, so they just don't know what to do with him other than job him out to up-and-comers, so they do nothing.

Judging by that quote, looks like once again Vince couldn't give much of a shit about building new stars-- he just wants his old ones back. Is it any wonder people are talking about the possible return of Bret Hart?

Well you know something brothers... eventually, WWE is going to have to push the young guys to the roof. If they don't, they're going to end up just like WCW-- with a bunch of guys on dialysis machines running the show.

The old manager of the World must being kicking himself this week. RVD could = additional people in the World this Sunday, which would have meant more money for him to embezzle. Poor timing for him getting arrested right when he could have made a pre-holiday bonus.

They're not pushing the "new stars" that are getting the best reactions from the crowd. They're pushing guys who have "paid their dues" for whatever reason.

DirtyMike said it best in another thread - the fans aren't getting to decide the pushes anymore. That's why attendance is dwindling to a trickle.

More scary evidence, for this Dec. PPV, they explored the possibility of having it in a 5,000-6,000 seat venue in Waco, Texas. Even though it didn't happen, that seems like one of the smallest PPV venues ever for them. Think they would have done that two years ago?

I know. The WWE should have pushed that Lesnar kid to the moon when they had the chance. Should have made him champ faster than anyone...given him the rumble...I mean, really, seriously pushed him.

Eke, I have to disagree with you about WCW in its final days. To me, the show didn't suck because of the old guys, it sucked because of the new guys.

The times I watched Nitro in those days, I had no clue who the wrestlers were and neither did the fans. They would pop for Steiner or Jarrett or whoever, but Hugh Morrus and "The Artist" and the Mamalukes and Chris Candido got ZERO reaction. I think the problem was WCW had no idea how to make the fans care about new stars, which is exactly the problem of the WWE.

During the InVasion, I didn't know a bunch of the guys - Mark Jindrak, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Sean O'Haire, etc. I had no reason at all to care about them.

The problem with WWE, as eloquently stated by Asteroid Boy, is they are pushing guys who have paid their dues (Albert, Test, Big Show, Steven Richards) even though the fans are like "Who the hell are THESE people? Where's RVD and Booker?"

You guys who loved WCW know who Shannon Moore is....but the rest of us don't. We never will. Because the WWE doesn't care and neither do we.

Does this count as breaking RVD's PPV streak since he will still actually be on the show?

So if RVD could wrestle this sunday...who would it be against? It seems as though every possible opponent is already booked.

Eh, call me an optimist but I really do think they are saving RVD for the Royal Rumble title match against HHH. meanhwile I think it will be Jeff Hardy (turning heel) who does the run-in during the Armageddon ladder match, causing HBK to lose and then have a HBK/Hardy ladder match at RR.

Every time I've seen PPV streaks detailed, only scheduled (I should say, officially sanctioned) participation in a match counts. Run-ins don't count, and Heat matches don't count. Therefore, RVD is not going to set any records anytime soon (unless he is ordered to replace a posibly injured Victoria).

Damn... I haven't been able to justify buying Armageddon (SD may change my mind as I avoid spoilers)... maybe I'll go down to the World- just a few minutes on the train.

Maybe you're on to something...
Do you think the WWE would get the picture if there was a higher demand for World tickets to hang with RVD than to attend the PPV?

If you're playing Devil's Advocate here, then I applaud you for a fine job of doing it. If you actually think any of these things might happen...I don't know what to say here that wouldn't be insulting. Seriously, from whence does the endless wellspring of naive optimism come from. RVD will have a 10 second cut-in, point to himself, and be quickly forgotten about. The end.

Please, for the love of god, please don't put Jeff Hardy anywhere near the main event picture. This is the message that a Jeff Hardy push demonstrates: Be unmotivated and get pushed. Not a good message.

You know, I am among those who generally ignore or laugh at all of the threads where HHH wields Hurricane Helms like superhuman powers because he is sleeping with Steph and how he is burying everyone, and is generally the cause of all that is evil in the world, and that he sucks now, and no one really wants to see him. That having been said, I am seeing RVD at the World rather than the PPV? Odd. Yes, one can say that there are a limited number of spots for each show. Then again, there are a LOT of people on the shelf right now. Often, where there is smoke, there is fire. I understand about pushes...and depushes, but as a rule, you give the fans someone they wish to see. I'll admit, it might be a one time thing, but this is one that is getting me thinking there may be something to all the HHH BS so many rant on about. I am also beginning to also wonder what caused the disappearance of Molly Holly.

Without considering conspiracy therories on all that, I think what happened is, probably through poor planning, they booked themselves into a corner with RVD. He is at the main event level, so anybody he could actually wrestle at the PPV would feel beneath him (who would he wrestle, Raven? Stevie Richards? Ivory?) But if this is truly the blowoff to the HHH/HBK fued, as they are pushing that it is, it should be a one-on-one, and not a triple threat. So they pretty much booked themselves where they left RVD with nothing to do. This is not good booking by any means, and should have been avoided, but it's too late now.

I am curious about one thing, referring to the previous post, what the heck would Triple H have against Molly Holly?

Sadly, I think this is end of the RVD push. If his contract is up in a few months and he's not going to sign, then he is done. Vince won't give him the belt before his contract is up, see Bret Hart, so he will be using for some matches to get over people over who I don't know.

Booker T is getting the Rock push. Booker T will be tag team champ and win the Rumble like Rock in 2000, face HHH at Wrestlemania, lose and then win it at Backlash. Along the way, HHH will destroy HBK, Stiener, RVD and Kane. He will main event against Stiener at the Rumble, beat him and then slide into Wrestlemania.

A Fan- Man, its sad I can see that from here.
