Vince Russo was backstage at last night's NWA-TNA PPV. He attended the preshow meetings and produced backstage segments. In other words, he was back to the same duties he had before he was shipped out when Hulk Hogan appeared to be part of the picture.
Hogan expressly didn't want to be part of TNA if Russo were around because of the lawsuit Hogan filed against Time Warner and Russo for his final night in WCW when Russo made unplanned shoot comments against him on national PPV.
Now that it appears the Hogan deal is off indefinitely, Russo is free to return to his old duties.
Russo was instrumental in faciliating the return of Jerry Lynn to TNA, a valuable worker for the promotion who had fallen out of favor with Jeff Jarrett in recent months and who did not impress TNA's other booker, Dutch Mantel.

So how long before we see the Wolfpack on TNA-TV? | Mayhem

| #3 Posted on 22.1.04 1333.24 | Instant Rating: 4.59 | this was at the Torch as well:
"Before last night's NWA-TNA PPV, Jeff Jarrett announced at a preshow meeting that TNA will be holding the previously postponed three-hour Sunday night "Bound for Glory" PPV in April. He also explicitly said the PPV would not feature Hulk Hogan.
The event is likely going to take place at an army base in Kentucky with patriotic country singing superstar Toby Keith performing.
The Bound for Glory PPV was originally scheduled for November and was to be headlined by Jeff Jarrett vs. Hulk Hogan. Hogan pulled out of the event, though, saying he required knee surgery and couldn't perform. Jarrett flew to Japan to film an angle where he attacked Hogan. The footage aired in the U.S. to promote the match, which now appears won't be taking place anytime soon.
Jimmy Hart, Hogan's business assistant, appeared on a series of TNA PPVs, but has not attended any of the last three. There are strong indications TNA's relations with Hogan are off entirely at this point, even if Hogan were to be healthy enough to return.
The April "Bound for Glory" PPV will be the first TNA event not on a Wednesday night. It will be the first three-hour PPV promoted by the 18 month old promotion.
It's expected that TNA will work to secure Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Ken Shamrock as major names to be part of the special three-hour PPV. Jonny Fairplay of "Survivor" fame signed a one-year deal with TNA, which means he will also be a major part of the TNA PPV.
Since this three-hour event will be TNA's biggest event to date, they will likely begin booking toward that event starting soon and sign even more recognizable free agent names from the indy wrestling scene."

| #4 Posted on 22.1.04 1507.55 | Instant Rating: 6.65 | It makes sense, if they're trying to go all out with a `big' PPV, to try to secure a few recognizable names. Hell, if they did an Outsiders reunion (provided this was a one-night only type deal), it would probably help to secure a few more viewers than normal.
I think they have to be careful, though, that they don't turn this company into WCW Lite. With Jarrett, Sting, Disco, Raven, Konnan and others already there in semi-regular roles, the last thing you want is to be seen as a haven for the guys WWE won't take.
I'm intrigued, though, to see what they'll book for the three hour show now that Hogan's out of the picture.

Wait…if it’s MLK Jr. Day AND Pat Patterson’s Birthday…who gets the token win here?-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking on a match between Mark Henry and Rico
MH: What’s a clever way to say that I have a penis? CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt. MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…? CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department. MH: I know! I’ve got it! CJ: Got what? MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!! CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”? MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt. CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say. MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.
You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT! --Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking, 1/19/04 Raw Satire
