Major scoopage: Redskins have agreed to a trade w Rams for #2 pick of draft. Rams and Skins swap first rounders this yr w Rams also getting 2 future #1s and additional picks. Story coming on fox sports dot com
Wow - reading on ESPN from Schefter it sounds like the Browns were making a push for RG III and then this happened. Given what the Skins are giving up, I am extremely glad the Browns didn't give up all that for one guy. And I've become an RG III fan.
"As you may have read in Robert Parker's Wine Newsletter, 'Donaghy Estates tastes like the urine of Satan, after a hefty portion of asparagus.'" Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock
If the skins give up that much, they are off their rockers. No way RG3 is worth THREE number ones plus additional picks. I hope he proves me wrong, because I really like the guy, but three first round picks is a ridiculous price.
However it works out for Washington, the Rams should be delighted. They've got plenty of picks to upgrade their roster AND two first rounder for the next two drafts after that. And all they had to do to get 'em was drop four spots this year. Awesome deal.

They didn't really give up "three first round picks"...they gave up two ones and a two, and they SWAPPED 2012 first-round picks. The Rams started with one first round pick and they ended up with three, not four.
And I don't blame the Redskins for doing this. The QBs in the NFC East are Eli, Vick, and Romo. No matter what you think of Romo (and to some degree, Vick) those guys are in at LEAST the top-half of QBs in the NFL. Rex Grossman and John Beck? Not so much.
Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

As an aside, "top-half of QBs in the NFL" is an illusion. Of COURSE Vick is in the top half in the league. Go ahead and try to name 16 QBs better than him. You'll see that once you get to about 8 or 9 you're going to start naming QBs that hardly anybody would consider elite.
Now, if I'm the Redskins, I take as much of that penalty upfront, as without the first round picks in 2013 and 2014 the need for close to cap max room will be greater in 2013. Plus, if Griffin develops on schedule, you would rather be building than build, contract, build. Dallas with the $10 million penalty could be workable by just spreading it out over 2 years so it doesn't have a dire impact. It is funny that Mike Shanahan is yet again coaching a team that subverts the salary cap system. And, at least if you are going to put yourself in that sort of position, make the playoffs the year you get cute with the system.
That logic sounds kinda like bull. As an Eagles fan, I have no love lost for the Redskins or Cowboys getting hit playing cap games, but to take a hit now for smartly using an uncapped year seems very counter-intuitive. Anytime you penalize someone for breaking a rule that didn't exist at the time, it just makes the whole system look dumb.
Which supports your argument that it was the exposure of Spygate that derailed them........rather poorly. I wonder if these things might explain them not winning the SB rather better than them not taping opponents' signals?
