Screw it. Give Shawn Michaels another match. Let him pick his opponent, and give them 20 minutes.

How much cash will it take to get Goldberg? Three months is more than enough time for him to get in shape. Goldberg/Brock II, Goldberg/Rock II, Goldberg/Austin, or vs a current roster wrestler.

They pretty much have no choice now but to let Bryan return to action, and in an appropriate position on the card. Here's some ironic fantasy booking for you: Roman starts at #1, Trips runs in late in the match (before #30) to eliminate Roman and ensure a new champion, then Bryan comes out at #30, wins the match and the title, and the entire Authority face-palms in sync backstage. (It'll never happen, but I just had to throw it out there.) Bryan/Brock is the best title match they can book right now, unless they're going to be brave and give Bray Wyatt a shot.

Alternative is that Vince flies the corporate jet down to Broken Skull Ranch, throws two giant cartoon sacks of money at Austin's feet, gets down on his knees and begs him to work a match.

I wouldn't put someone who's getting a reputation for being injury-prone, against Brock Lesnar. Just saying.

With her first UFC loss is Ronda Rousey still in line for this, or has she recommitted to training for a rematch? The big knock on her prematch was she was getting too "Hollywood".

The WON-ish word seems to be WWE would still love to have her but the schedule doesn't line up this year. It's considered almost impossible for Rousey to wrestle because she's filming a movie in Asia (Thailand?) at that time, to the point where it would be hard for her to even make an appearance much less build up a match.

So, where are we now?

near locks
  • HHH (c) vs Roman Reigns for the WWE championship
  • Brock Lesnar vs Bray Wyatt (may include other Family members)

    suggested by last night
  • Charlotte (c) vs Sasha Banks for the Women's Championship (maybe also Becky Lynch?)
  • Dean Ambrose (c) vs Chris Jericho for the IC Title
  • Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn and/or AJ Styles

    without a direction so far
  • The Undertaker (waiting to see if Cena can go?)
  • The New Day
  • pretty much the entire League of Nations.
  • the annual 'get every midcarder in a multiman match' match, not to be confused with
  • the Andre The Giant battle royal

Bryan Alvarez wild guess that's unlikely to be correct
  • Kalisto versus Alberto del Rio, mask versus hair

I'm skeptical of the last one, because it's pretty clear they have no long term plan for that feud and are just throwing it together as they go, so there's no chance there's a big WM match. Plus, too many singles match as it is.

This is a really good SummerSlam card. They desperately need Cena to magically heal again for WrestleMania, or for Rock to suddenly be free to work a match as a replacement for him.

Shinsuke Nakamura's said to be debuting on the NXT show that weekend. That would also be the right timing for Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, but maybe they could also be the WrestleMania tag challengers - there's a conspicuous lack of challengers with the Usos losing again and the Lucha Dragons inactive. Or, they could turn New Day face and set up someone like Rusev/Sheamus as challengers.

Something where Owens faces Zayn on the NXT show and faces Styles on WM would fit with what they've done before. Zayn being on RAW tonight would be telling about their short term plans.

I think Bullet Club would work as their post-Mania surprise threat for Reigns. It would be potentially a better version of the Nexus invasion.

Even if the Wyatts beat Brock, they can't move to threaten Reigns; they did that already. Reigns also already fought and beat the League. So unless someone comes up from the midcard (like Owens) or returns (like Cena or Cesaro), Bullet Club is a ready-made beatdown for the three-time champ to cap the exhausting Mania weekend and give SmackDown some interest.

Even if they don't bring up Balor, Styles can go heel to challenge Roman and lead Gallows and Anderson.

And if Rollins can come back to join Roman and Ambrose against these guys ...

I know at the time they thought they'd have Cena for Undertaker, but I bet they'd like to take back that Taker/Lesnar Hell in a Cell blowoff. Going from the streak matches to whom, the guy who just lost twice to Kalisto? The guy who is Sheamus? I think you're right and they're holding out hope that Cena just says fuck it and goes with one arm, because This Business.

I assume Cena will be working the show unless we haven't seen him by 10:59PM Eastern on 4/3.

The thought of wasting Brock like this is disappointing. No combination of the Wyatts can be made into a credible threat. Just team Brock and Taker up to destroy them, and keep them off TV for a long time.

New Day turning properly face against the League Of Nations in a six-man tag is a good fit. Hell, make it 'Freebird rules' for the tag titles in a tribute to Hayes and company getting into the HOF. It could be a good mix of both seriousness (in making New Day into a legit top-of-the-card threat) and comedy (since Barrett, Sheamus and especially Rusev would be great at reacting to New Day's antics).

It occurs to me that Undertaker/Big Show might actually be an option for this Wrestlemania and now I want to cry.

George Michael weighed his options. Maeby had chastised him for not taking risks, and what would be a bigger risk than perpetuating a lie about software just to ignite the passions of a woman? Of course it would be a lie, and since Maeby wouldn't know it was a lie, he wouldn't appear to be taking a risk. Perhaps the bigger risk was to tell his father he was lying, that he came up with it because he wanted his father to leave so he could enjoy what remained of his senior year. After all, he wondered, wouldn't that be the course of action taken by an overtly sexual man, a man who owns a pair of matador pants? He had not responded now for 41 seconds according to his unfailing internal clock, and it was time to come clean.

They should just book Danielson to defeat Sheamus in 15 seconds. Easy move to earn fan goodwill, so long as they signal to the fans ahead of time that it will be more of a segment than a match. That way Bryan wouldn't need to take any offense, and it fits within the context of their ongoing April feuds.

So in the wake of Fastlane, we're looking at....

    * HHH vs. Reigns
    * Charlotte vs. Sasha vs. Becky (or, Charlotte vs. Sasha and you throw Becky in the other multi-Diva match)
    * New Day vs. League Of Nations?
    * Owens vs. Styles?
    * Undertaker vs. (if healthy) Cena?

The much-rumoured Brock vs. Bray match doesn't seem to fit now that the Wyatts didn't show up during Brock's match and also inexplicably jobbed to Team Ryback.

Lesnar/Ambrose makes more sense for Wrestlemania at this point since otherwise, I'm not sure what you have for Dean. If Cena isn't healthy, geez, could WWE actually run Undertaker vs. Ambrose? That would be a weird combination but it could be interesting.

Meltzer says Lesnar/Ambrose is in fact the new plan, so I guess sometimes things actually can change for the better. So that's really cool, bringing the total of really cool things to one.

The big Wyatt angle in the Rumble is going to seem peculiar in future viewings, but Lesnar's next match will probably be against Bray or Strowman so they can always throw that in the video. If it weren't for the New Day angle, Wyatts should go against the League in a "Corre vs Dudes Memorial WTF" match.

Undertaker will either face Gamblin' John Cena or what Meltzer described as a non-roster, non-NXT guy. Which would seem to only fit Sting, save for for his whole career-ending broken neck thing.

They hardly appear to even be attempting to avoid a complete reverse reaction for Hunter/Reigns. So at least it might be funny.

Pretty sure it's Cena, but if it's not him, I wouldn't rule out HBK in a "You Retired Me, So I Retire You In Our Home State of Texas and Also I Love You and We Work Really Great Together and Also There's No Other Opponents For You" match.

WWE.com has a video up of Lesnar attacking Ambrose in the parking garage, so I'd say that one is 100% confirmed.

Deep. Very deep. Strange but it seems that wrestling is taken much more serious in countries that are less violent than our own. I've always thought of it as cathartic.
