" According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials are already contemplating candidates for induction into the Hall of Fame next year. The primary names being discussed are Trish Stratus, given that it will likely take place in her hometown of Toronto, and The Rock. The idea with Rock is it would be mark ten years after his memorable WrestleMania match with Hulk Hogan, which took place in Toronto."

I am on board with Trish since it is her hometown and she does deserve it. Rock on the other hand, I am not sure he wants to relive a match where he was booed 90% of the time. I figured WM 30 at MSG where he won the Rumble and got a thunderous pop would be a good place. It would be a great lead into the 30th anniversary. The two of them in Toronto would make the show a sell out. It might be the hardest ticket of the year in Toronto not like the Leafs or Raptors are going anywhere anytime soon. I think both separately can do sell the show, so I am a little weary of them sharing the spotlight.

I think selling a HOF on Trish alone would be a push, even in Canada. Rock's the logical next step for the big ME induction, unless they somehow convince Martha Hart to let Owen go in or Cena dies rescuing orphans from a burning building this summer. The only thing I would see giving them pause is the fact that an HOF induction is pretty much an admission that Rock's gone for ever and ever, but that's pretty obvious at this point.

Now that I think about it, the ballsy thing to do would be to make "Evil Chairman Mr. McMahon" the headline induction next year.

I think he'd take that as a matter of pride -- to be the heel in a Hogan WM match AND WINNING. That was a hot, hot match, and I suspect even the referee is proud to be a part of it.

Regarding the Trish rumor, who inducts her? Has she worked with any current diva on the roster? Do you give Mae Young a mic? It's gotta be Lita, right?

Trish won't have to sell Toronto by herself if they got a good mix of people say like the Road Warriors or Tully Blanchard or Vader. She would be the star attraction, but I am sure they would pad it with people WWE fans would know. No one is going to sell the Hall by themselves unless that Shawn rumor is true that the sales are so good they are just going to let him go for the last hour. If it is true which I doubt, Sting turning them down may have turned into the rumored WCW HOF into the Heartbreak Kid Show. Again, I doubt it since JR has pretty much confirmed Arn Anderson and Ron Simmons for this year. I guess Shawn asked if it was ok to have Flair there and the WWE seems to be ok with it.

I would say Christian or Jerich if not Lita would induct Trish. I just want Rock to have the spotlight to himself and not have go over a match where the fans acted like shitheads trying to relive Hulkamania for the first guy who sold out to go to Bischoff's WCW. If that match was in the US, I don't think Rock would be forced to play heel. I'd rather see him get inducted in the US where he was tremendously over and get a great reaction then bizzaro world Canada.

The Ultimate Warrior would make a lot of sense being inducted in the Hall of Fame next year. He beat Hogan for The World Title in The Sky dome 20+ years ago. That was obviously his greatest moment.

The guys you mentioned make much more sense for this year than next since they are WCW guys.

I don't think that's very likely to happen.

1. Vince probably hates The Warrior
2. The Warrior wouldn't show up because he has no love for Vince/WWE or the business in general.

I believe WWE and Warrior had a dialogue about him going in the HOF last year (with it being near his home in Arizona), so I wouldn't say it's too far-fetched anymore.

I am thinking WCW overflow if they don't get into the Hall this year. There is supposed to be a best of Nitro DVD coming out with DDP. They might move that til next year to get some more WCW interest going or move the rumored WCW Raw show to late this year instead before the HOF. I think the Road Warriors are known to every fan since they had good runs with both companies.

I can see Warrior going next year since that would be more appropriate then highlighting Rock/Hogan. Edge could induct him since he was there for that match. The price has to be right for Warrior and hopefully Vince releasing DVDs bashing him out of the blue.

So Rock is the headliner, Trish is the female entrant. Some other possible candidates for the Canadian setting....

* The British Bulldog
* Rene Goulet
* Rick Martel
* Gene Kiniski
* Whipper Billy Watson
* Edouard Carpentier
* Billy Red Lyons
* Jack Tunney/the Tunney family, owners of Maple Leaf Wrestling
* The Rougeau family, or just Jacques
* Earthquake
* Owen, of course, would be absolutely perfect if Martha Hart can be convinced

Also, this might be a longshot, but isn't Edge supposed to be known to be retiring next year when his contract is up? It might be odd to give an active and still young guy the 'Flair treatment,' but it'd be pretty huge if Edge was inducted into the HOF and wrestled his last match in Toronto at 'Mania.

I was a stunned as everyone to watch Wrestlemania and see my fellow countrymen (And women) root for the orange goblin while bad mouthing the Rock. However, maybe the pro Hogan feeling was a "Welcome back, and fare thee well" type response.
