Ok, I'm not very productive around the Wienerboard on most any day other than to be mainly a pest, nuisance, or just a plain ol' goof ball. Anyways a friend of mine pointed me this rumor that's popped up this was part of an post on Wrestlezone.com newsboard. Here is the link if you want pop up galore.

http://www.wrestlezone.com/ articles/75273559.php

"Although we don't like to name anyone specifically, we can tell you that Tommy Dreamer, Spanky, Paul London, and Kanyon are all on edge as of late. Billy Kidman is another guy who is never used but many feel his job is secure with his real life wife Torrie Wilson around. Ultimo Dragon has also not impressed Vince McMahon and is said to be one of the guys who is on the 'must go' list."

Ok, the people mentioned have barely been given chances to shine except for Spanky who got replaced by Zach Gowen...hey wait a second, why isn't his name on this list I haven't seen him for months now and once again someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Heres who i would cut;
Big Show, John Hiedenrich, Slyvan Granier, A-train, Gowen, terri, Coach, Mark Henry, Rodney Mack, Pulumbo, Stamboli, Stiener, Orlando jordan, Billy Gunn (unless they give him another tag team to carry), Shaniqua, Rikishi.
Instead they are going to cut a bunch of people who will prosper on the indies and in ring of honor, and will help TNA out bigtime. Remember how Bishoff thought that guys like Austin, HHH, Foley wouldn't help anything in the future? Someone Vince is really going to let go is to help TNA out alot. Belee dat playa!

"Although we don't like to name anyone specifically"

Ha. All they did was rip-off Observer & Torch stories. Both sheetz said this week that rumors of impending roster cuts have made some wrestlers nervous. The Torch said Kidman openly expressed concern for his job, but nobody thinks he'd be cut because of Torrie. The Observer said that Spanky and London weren't booked on a recent house show and "you can guess what was going through their heads".

Neither of them reported that A) these guys are actually being cut, or B) that there will even BE any cuts. Ultimo Dragon wasn't brought up in either story, but a few weeks ago the Torch mentioned that he was unhappy with his push, so I suppose they just lumped him in.

Tommy Dreamer and Kanyon weren't mentioned either. Maybe 1bob said something about them? I don't know. Perhaps the author has inside sources in the WWE office that provided him more names than Meltzer or Keller were able to obtain. Or maybe they're just making shit up.

Surprisingly enough, Ultimo, Kanyon, and Dreamer were the names Dave mentioned on Observer Live when a caller asked about jobs in jeopardy -- if they were to actually make any cuts.

How to Make the Wienerboard a Better Place, Chapter 2: If you're going to make a smart-ass remark, make sure you know why you're saying it.
Whee, ANOTHER "here's who I'D cut" thread (even though it wasn't started like that, that's where it's going to end up).

The only report I saw (411) named only Kidman, and pretty much in the "they might cut him, but won't because of Torrie" vein. They need to trim some of the fat, but not the people that have a reasonable shot at getting over. You decide what that means.

Who they should cut: Billy Gunn, Big Show, John Hnnrnnr, Matt Morgan, etc.

Who they will cut: Spanky, Matt Hardy, Ultimo Dragon, Sakoda, etc.

Ok, maybe not. But should there ever BE any cuts, at least expect something quite similar.

Heidenreich was just signed to long term deal.

Spanky and London didn't work a Velocity match...when Velocity was in Texas (where both from and where it would seem obvious to give them the Velocity main).

Spanky's from Washington. Although yes, it would've made sense to put them in a match.

I don't think London and Spanky would be in jeopardy. As far as not being booked on a house show, they were booked last night in Glendale, AZ. I mean those two were just signed, i'm sure someone in the WWE sees the potential in them. Plus obviously they're set on doing something with these guys soon, I mean they even gave them matching outfits. I see in these guys what the Hardy Boyz were in the late 90's to 2001 as far as breaking out and becoming huge, especially with the teen girls. Except that they're already great competitors in singles matches. They're young and have tons of potential, letting them go would be dumb.

As much as I care for Ultimo, Tommy, and Kanyon, it's true that they could be on the chopping block. I always thought Tommy would make a good agent for the company or in some off-air position. I think Kanyon could find a good home in TNA and Ultimo would just be better off taking care of Toryumon instead of wrestling on Velocity.

I gotta disagree too with regards to Big Show and that he should be released. Sure there seems to be an overabundance of hosses in WWE, but I wouldn't count Big Show as an "average hoss". Since the trade to Smackdown, I think he's proved himself to be an entertainer. Naturally, he does have a quality about him that pulls you in. Plus the man really is larger than life so he's a good figure to keep around.

I guess to throw my hat into the "who should be cut list":
Billy Gunn, Heidenreich, Grenier, Mark Henry, Rodney Mack, (though we would probably lose Theodore Long as a manager) A-Train, Rikishi, Gowen, Stamboli, Orlando Jordan, and Kanyon (yeah, sorry).

Now it's not like I dislike all those folks. But it's either, they're not really too vital to WWE right now or would probably be better off elsewhere.

Yeah, guys, lets cut the Big Show. That's super smart. That guy gets more of a crowd reaction than all of the guys mentioned combined. Plus, I happen to think he's more entertaining than half the guys on the roster. His bit with Rey this week was classic.

Of anyone, why not cut Ernest Miller? He is clearly not clicking with the audience despite getting a push other people would kill for. Give the team of London and Spanky a fraction of the TV time Cat has had recently, I guarantee they'd get over, at least more than Miller has. They at least have the POTENTIAL to make money for McMahon, and I bet their contracts are lower than a guy like The Cat.

The others I'd get rid of (for same reasons as everyone else): Tommy Dreamer, Ultimo Dragon, Billy Gunn, Kanyon. Nothing against them personally; they're just not getting great reactions. All except for Billy Gunn -- and he just sucks.

Spanky & London work well as a team, and draw good face reactions. They'd be a great full-time addition to the tag ranks, esp. since the face side is down a team (Eddy/Chavo feud). Both are young, athletic, have cool moves, and will do nothing but improve.

Kanyon has good size, can wrestle, is comfortable on the mic (ignore the lisp), has cool moves & spots, can work heel or face, usually gets good reactions even when playing jobber for guys like Orlando Jordan, can play comedy, is young, and has a catchphrase. He would be a great addition to the midcard, could be a viable US Title contender, and we've never seen any negative backstage reports from him (despite jobbing to less talented guys). He came back from 2 serious injuries (torn ACL, shoulder separation w/ serious infection). He can work w/ just about anybody.

So, of course these guys will get cut, while wastes of space like Orlando Jordan (seriously, why is he even on the SD roster?), Ernest Miller, Heidenreich, Gowan, Jacqueline, etc. get to stay.

Kanyon gets decent reactions for a guy who appears & jobs on every 4th Velocity. Granted, they're not deafening reactions, but he does get reactions for a guy booked like he is.

Well this is all speculation on the parts of everyone, but if there were to be roster cuts here is whom I would expect to receive the pink slip:

  1. Ernest Miller - I liked his WCW schtick but this isn't WCW and the crowds aren't digging him. Plus, he's not in a wrestling capacity right now, and there are enough non-wrestlers taking time that could be used to get other superstars over. Speaking of which;
  2. Sable - Other than to live out Vinnie ac's sex fantasies, why is she on my screen?
  3. Sean O'Haire - Being sorely underused. A trip to Japan or TNA would do wonders for his development instead of being force-fed the "WWE Style" IMO.
  4. Chris Kanyon - Another misused WCW castoff, but can work with the best of them. You would think the Alliance MVP would be booked better than constant Velocity shows, but then again I'm not VKM. If I were in Vinnie's shoes I would consider making him a road agent or a trainer if Kanyon is not going to be seen on Smackdown.
  5. Ultimo Dragon - Same deal with the others - respected everywhere but the WWE because he doesn't "work their style."
  6. Zach Gowen - I admire Zach's courage and determination to make it to the big leagues but a gimmick attraction is only going to go so far before the fans gets bored. See Laurer, Joanie.

There's also the usual list of suspects (Mark Henry, A-Train, anyone over 6'5" and 275 lbs.) but let's be realistic - WWE is a big man's paradise.

Like I said, nothing personal against Kanyon. The guy can definitely work a decent match. But my point is, that's all they're ever going to do with Kanyon. If they're just going to keep him on Velocity and off of televised angles, it's a waste of money.

I have to disagree with morgan, given time i think he can be THE big man. But they shouldve waited to bring him up, only 2 months in and i already think hes better than show.
As for saying keep the PigSlow bc hes more entertaining than all the other guys combined. Yeah hes entertaining at times, and he used to be a decent worker, but he doesnt deserve to be in that championship spot.

Considering the roster size and the fact that the holiday season is over (and the Mania season is beginning), it probably makes sense to start at least trimming the roster.

Tommy Dreamer: If he wants to work as a road agent, he should get placed in that job. If he wants to be a wrestler, they should let him go. ECW's been dead 3 years, and all Dreamer is now is a faded shell of his former self. Perhaps he might be re-invigorated in TNA.

Billy Gunn: It won't happen, but after a decade in the company it might be time to replace Billy with someone younger who can float around the mid-card and get unexplained pushes every few months.

Mark Henry: Its been almost 8 years, and he still sucks.

Billy Kidman: No charisma and he's not a kid anymore (pun intended). Better to go with younger guys, and if his wife doesn't like it, she can go see how well the other women who have left the WWF/E have fared.

Orlando Jordan: Useless.

Ultimo Dragon: Doesn't fit in.

Kanyon: Might be one of those guys who does better once he leaves McMahonland, at which time Vince aggressively tries to steal him back.

William Regal: All he probably would be now is yet another non-wrestler taking up space. Already are enough of them already on the roster.

If only Paul Jones had brought in General Skandar Akbar as a technical military advisor, Paul Jones' Army could have thwarted the McMahon infidels and prevented the collapse of wrestling civilization.

I can't believe WWE creative can't get behind Kanyon. Did anyone there even see in WCW what he can do? The problem is no, they didn't. It's just mind-boggling that a guy as talented as Kanyon can't get out of Velocity. I guess maybe Vince thinks that he has the stigma of being associated with a "losing" product (WCW) and fans will recognize that. I don't buy it. He's also not a guy I see fitting into the "Main Event Style" of wrestling- he's at his best when he's innovative.

I can't see them getting rid of Regal ... he is supposedly physically unable to wrestle ... I think a Road Agent's job is in his future.

Hell, might as well do my roster cuts:

RAW
Chris Nowinski-I think he might make a good manager for TNA.

Gail Kim-I don't think she is ready to be a full time wrestler just yet.

Goldberg-I just hate him.

Ivory-WWE really isn't using her, I would like to see her come to TNA as a manager, wrestler, or whatever

Jacquline-TNA can use her in her Ref role or just a tough wrestler like she was in WCW

Jon Heidenreich-Just go away

Kevin Nash-As much as his last WWE run went, I would not mind seeing a Outsiders return maybe in TNA.

Steven Richards-I kinda would like to see him keep the "crazy" gimmick but come out to help out Raven.

Tommy Dreamer-see Steven Richards

SMACKDOWN
Big Show-I like him but I would like to see if TNA might give him a run as a "unstopple" giant like WCW tried to.

Billy Gunn-I remember when everyone was calling him the "best pure wrestler" in WWE at one point, now thats Benoit. The only way I can see fans liking him again is if he goes TNA and gets back with BG James.

Billy Kidman-WWE just doesn't want to push him. Truth be told, I have not been into him since he was in Raven's Flock in WCW.

Kanyon-see Tommy Dreamer

Rhyno-see Big Show

Sean O'haire-Those promos he was doing before WWE put him with Piper were great. He can go TNA and play the Sinister Minister role from ECW.

Shannon Moore-Lets face it, Vince won't give him a big push, size and all, he might be good for TNA's X Divison.

Spanky-see Shannon Moore

Ultimo Dragon-see Shannon Moore

Zach Gowen-see Shannon Moore

You guys are freakin' out of control here. No one is going to cut The Big Show and no one *should* either. I've seen him on three of your lists now, and yet he's been getting a pretty good push for a year. Not to mention he is unique and somewhat marketable. Why don't you throw Albert and Triple H on your lists ... you guys hate them too.
