Well we don't have nearly enough ROH threads around here. From the ROH message forum:

http://www.rohwrestling.com/MessageBoard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=25072

Wow. I'm not sure what this means for Homicide. Apparently Meltzer has reported some rumors lately that Homicide might go to WWECW. I'm not sure if there's any truth to them and perhaps ROH is playing off of them.

If there is no more Generation Next, what does that make the team of Aries and Strong?

The finish to the world title match sounds pretty ridiculous. And honestly, why is Danielson CONSTANTLY getting snubbed on the main events for the world title matches? Tonight his match should've easily been the main event. I'm disappointed it wasn't, just like on many other occassions.

I'm at least hoping for the fantastic Danielson/Cabana world title match we didn't get at the 100th show. I'm also excited about a Danielson/Joe world title feud. Especially now that Danielson has evolved into a fantastic heel.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"I know, I know you are saying "sure there was some bad calls, but Jake Gyllenhaal obviously dropped too many easy catches and Ang Lee had some horrible clock management at the end of each half!"" (krakken2000)

I was there, so I can give a few comments. Didn't see StevieCorp's GM there, but it's possible he was. Missed the pre-show matches, too.

* The crowd was hot as fuck for the World title match. Danielson's just raining down elbows on Homicide, and the ref stops the match. Didn't say it was by submission, at least. Don't remember what Danielson went on about before the match, as I wasn't taking notes (unlike the guy in the Hasselbeck jersey in my row or the guy who said he was going to go run off and leave a comment on Colt Cabana's Myspace) but during Joe's intros, he insisted on being called the greatest wrestler in the world. Joe intro's him as "the palest wrestler in the world." Hee.

* They must have just punched in the chop-blocking incident, as those weren't posted on the Wrestlecrap boards (where I posted more comments). Joe was trying to separate Homicide (who was getting crazy face heat for pummeling the ref, as was Julius) with Danielson outside. He then gets back in the ring and takes Joe out, while everyone else is paying attention to the ref.

* Consequently, considering the finish, I'm guessing the booking was to send the fans home relatively happy. Instead of the taste of Homicide getting screwed, Joe getting taken out, and Danielson weaseling his way out of ANOTHER card as champ, we left with thoughts of Generation Next ceasing to be simply because they did what they said they would. Not sure if anyone would care about that, though.

* Some of the chants in the report seem to be off ("Let's go new guy" sounded more like "Let's go Davey") but what was with the Snitsky comment? Didn't notice anything like THAT, but that could be because my section was more concerned with being wiseacres.

All in all, a great show, and a nice way to pop my ROH cherry.

Please don't cut and paste an entire article from another message board over here - either post a hyperlink (I have edited your article to do just that) with your comments here, or go make your comments over on THAT message board.

(If you had actually ATTENDED the card, I'd give you some leeway, but since this looks more like an "agenda" post than anything else, I'm not in the mood)

Aries and Strong are not breaking up as a team. They have just dropped the name "Generation Next" and presumably a partnership with Evans and Sydal.

It's good for storyline-purposes. It's hard for Sydal or any GenNext member to have an angle going without saying, "Well...what do the other GenNext members think about it?" and stretching the story elsewhere.

Plus babyface factions without a heavier opposition is lame.

It's gotta stink though that they won't have Sydal there anymore, because he was the designated jobber of the group. I'm not making a joke, they really have Matt lose everytime. It doesn't matter if he's teaming with Gen Next or tag teaming with AJ Styles as he did for a while this year.

Shifting gears somewhat, I never really got into BJ Whitmer before as a wrestler, but he has really been good as the guy keeping the ROH/CZW war going. He did a run-in of sorts last night during the CZW show at the old ECW arena and took some big punishment again (including taking a great looking bump as Mr. Wrestling Kevin Steen gave him a package piledriver off the second turnbuckle through a table).

Whitmer has been willing to put his body on the line and it has helped to keep the CZW/ROH war hot. That's especially important as part of the drawing point for next month's ROH show in Pennsylvania is a Steel Cage Warfare match between ROH and CZW.

I salute you Whitmer.

I haven't seen much of Whitmer's tag title reigns with either Maff or Jacobs, but from what I saw in late '05 he was good but not a great worker. The first time I ever saw him was live at the Dragon Gate Challenge in Detroit and I was floored by how insane it was that he went crashing to the floor, seemingly twisted or even broke he ankle and then continued the match! Then hearing about the "psycho driver" through the table at the 100th show event and thinking even more highly of Whitmer.

I can't help but feel he deserves to be rewarded for all his hard work and crazy bumps, but Danielson is all kinds of awesome as champ so who knows...

I saw a good deal of Whitmer matches from that era as well, and he never interested me. It really is these last few months that have me singing a different tune.

The problem with ROH is that Whitmer really can't contend for any of their belts. As good as he is getting, BJ is not World title material. Since Whitmer is known more for his brawling, he shouldn't be contending for the Pure title either. Perhaps with a tag team partner that can hold the match wrestling-wise together, he could make a run for the tag belts. I just don't see him as being a guy to have a run with any of their belts.

Right after I write that, I see that there is a BJ Whitmer/Jimmy Jacobs match for this Saturday in New York (I'm still debating whether to go to this show) where the winner gets a world title shot on 6/23. So perhaps BJ is getting a small push because of his work in the ROH/CZW feud. Still, I don't think anyone would give BJ a snowball's chance in Hell of winning the World title.

Then again, Danielson made Delirious and Jimmy Rave look like they might get the surprise upset victory in their World title matches, so perhaps AmDrag can make BJ look like a contender.
