Hulk is ORANGE. How dare you insult the people of the ORANGE race like that.

I haven't laughed at Lawler in ages, but I did laugh tonight when he commented on D-Von being blacker than Mack by saying "What are you talking about, Rodney Mack is BEIGE" or something like that.

I hear you KaneRobot, I'm bored of Lawler's act for a while but when Teddy called D-von "Brown" and Lawler came back with "What does that make Rodney Mack, he's Beige" I laughed so hard, that I almost missed another classic line by Lawler in saying "You must really hate Ivory's name" 99.9% Pure white soap LoL... Lawler was ON that segment.

Lawler has been on fire during "The Mack" matches. Like the match against two brothers in a "Five Minute Whiteboy Challenge" JR said "Mack is about to face theese brothers" and King responded with "JR those aren't Brothers, those are Whiteboys!". Had me rollin'. Lawler is better than he was last year, they just need to keep him away from the ladies!

Though Rodney Mack's skin color is light, he is of African-American descendence. Like all races, their are varying shades in skin tone. Just because he is light skinned doesn't mean he's not black.

The term "white" is used for people of European ancestry. You can be light-skinned and not be anglo. There are blacks, latinos, and asians who are lighter than your average white person.

Lisa Bonet and Sabrina LeBeuaf who played two of the Huxtable daughters on the Cosby Show were light-skinned and they were of African-American heritage.

Rodney Mack is light-skinned but that doesn't mean he's not black. I don't question his ethnicity. What would be offensive is if he were trying to pass himself off as being black or if a white wrestler used black face. Rodney Mack keeps it real.

Long makes this Angle so much better, and also, isn't there a "Mack ain't Black" thread every 2 RAW's?

Don't worry, I think he was just exaggerating, or being sarcastic...whichever. Though your post is well-put. But also of note is that Rodney Mack, much like Lisa Bonet, Lenny Kravitz and Halle Berry are...is probably half-anglo. I think D-Lo Brown is too.

Look I don't think any of us actually doubt that Rodney is indeed a bona fide black man with regards to his parentage.

The whole point of the angle though is that he's being discriminated against because he is black. To discriminate in such a way, you would first have to find this out. And I'm sorry but even a fully paid up member of the KKK would probably employ Rodney unless they did some serious checking on his background.

They had to go out there and find guys that have seen less sun than Dracula to take part in the 'Whiteboy' challenge so that we knew which was which.

But really, none of it matters a hoot given that the angle is pretty much being played out tonuge in cheek at present, and Rodney's apparent whiteness kinda adds to the humour in a strange sorta way.

Nope, the point of the angle is that Teddy Long has *convinced* Rodney Mack that he's being held back because he's black. That's a major difference.

I think the big payoff to this angle will be Rodney Mack "revealing" to Teddy Long that he's been white all along. Then he'll turn face and feud with, um, a returning K-Kwik.

Think about that for a minute.

While this may be true, friend, let me tell you, since I am, like all these you just mentioned, half-black and half-anglo. The term is mulatto if anyone cares, btw.

We are raised from a very young age to believe a certain, ideological tenet, let's call it. And that tenet, that rule, which I promise you 9 out of every 10 mulattos have heard, is "you are half black and half white, but the world sees you as black." Lenny Kravitz has said it in interviews, Halle Berry has said it too I believe. And that is how we live our lives.

It is something that is designed to protect us from times which, I think, are no longer as harsh as they might once have been for us as a people. But even in my own relatively unscathed-by-racism experience I would have to reluctantly concur that if a mulatto desires to part of a group where he or she is "one of them" this sentiment is much more likely to be validated in a group of black people than a white group.

So it's entirely valid that Rodney Mack walk around acting "black".

What I want to know is what does Teddy Long have against brown people? He saying "Down With the Brown" just a few months back, and now rips on D-Von by saying he's brown instead of black?

Thanks for the insight from someone who knows. I guess my original point was that if Rodney Mack doesn't question his "blackness", no one else has the right to. Just because Rodney mack is of a lighter shade, that doesn't make him less black. "Black" is used to classify people of African origin. I now see why "African-American" is much more appropriate as opposed to a person being regarded as "black". It's obvious when somebody ethnic identifies themselves as "black", people literally gauge how black you are on the tone of your skin.

This Back the Mack campaign is nothing at all like the time One Man Gang transformed into Akeem the African Dream. Where an obvious "white" man became a "jive soul bro" under the guidance of Slick. I was young when that angle happened. At the time it was kinda humorous and to me and my family, we didn't deem it offensive because they were so over the top with it.

Now the Roddy Piper vs. Bad News Brown match at one of the Wrestlemanias, where Roddy painted half his body black, I didn't get it. What was the point he was trying to make? If he was mocking Bad News Brown about the color of his skin, I could see how that would be wrong. What was Piper's reasoning for doing this? He was the face in this angle remember?

Welcome to kayfabe! Here are a few others:

Anybody notice that John Cena is not black?
Anybody notice that Kane is not facially deformed?
Anybody notice that Jerry Lawler is not a king?
Anybody notice that Rhyno is not a rhino?
Anybody notice that Al Wilson is not dead?
Anybody notice that HHH is not a tough guy?

The WWE is not trying to kayfabe you into thinking that John Cena is a black man. His gimmick is one of a rapper.

Rodney Mack's gimmick is not one of kayfabe. Just because he is light-skinned that takes away from his African-American heritage?

If people want to base someones cultural lineage strictly on skin color, what does that make Vijay Singh, the golfer? He is darker than any black person I know but no one claims that he is black.

Watch the NBA Finals. Jason Kidd is admittedly a product of a bi-racial marriage but Kenyon Martin, though just as light as Kidd is, considers himself black. What are Richard Jefferson and Aaron Williams?

Look at the Spurs. Yes, Tony Parker's parents are African-American and French. That is acknowledged. But Tim Duncan is black from the Virgin Islands.

Most of us have blood from a different ethnicity somewhere along our family tree. Most people regard themselves under what culture they identify with or what they are identified as.

Just because Rodney Mack is of a light complexion does not make him less "black."

That WOULD be pretty funny if the big payoff to this angle is to have Mack tell Teddy Long "I'm not black, Teddy." and have K-Kwik come out for a beat down... or Mabel.

EDIT!: Shit, have Jazz beat him down, that'd be funny.
