Piper’s original diagnosis was kidney stones, however, sources close to the situation say the former World Tag Team Champion’s surgery may be a result of disc problems.
Due to Piper's injury, he will not participate at Survivor Series and will be replaced by a Legend to be named later. Ric Flair will now be the lone captain of the Legends team and Kenny will captain the Spirit Squad.
The replacement will probably wind up being Sergeant Slaughter. Hope Roddy winds up okay.

Slaughter is already on the team, so that eliminates him. I'd mark out for Barry Windham, as he would fit in the dynamic with Flair and Rhodes, but that probably isn't happening. Best guess would be a toss-up between Duggan and Rotundo, with Duggan the likely choice. And, with his DVD being released, Piper probably wasn't going to around much after Survivor Series anyway. Hope he winds up ok though.

Although I'd rather they say early in the show that Arn is bringing in a ex-Horseman or something like that and then it turn out to be Benoit. I know he's not a "Legend" and already has a match but it would be a Horsemen reunion of some sorts and he could make the match possibly watchable.

| #8 Posted on 19.11.06 2204.38 | Instant Rating: 0.00 | Since I have been a Memphis wrestling fan for about 35 years I will say this. If the writers will let Lawler wrestlee like he used to and does in Memphis that would be a good choice and make for a good show. Unfortunatly for the most part they write him in to be just a fair wrstler that gets squashed. Lawler is one of the guys who wrote the book on dorty fighting in wrestling but the WWE never uses him like that. Heck I saw them pull about 4 chains off of him before a match one time and he still had one hidden. Not to mention in Memphis he was/is good and throwing a little fire now and then and NOT getting caught at it.
In his prime I saw him go over 60 minutes against Harley Race in a nonstop match, granted that was years ago but he should still be able to do better than the writers let him.
As someone said before, anyone but Duggan. I used to like him alot but they have got him acting way to silly for his character now and it just doesn't go over for him.
Rotundo would be a good too although I don't know how much wrstling he still does. Lawler still wrestles in Memphis regularly so he has at least kept some of his ability sharper than others.
Hopefully Piper will recover soon as he is always fun to watch, especially in interviews..

Aside from that spinebuster he used on Taker during the latter's match with Flair a few years back, I thought Arn's surgery limited his physical activity.

"That's the thing: Maybe he'll be up and down this season, but when he's up, is there another center in the league quite like him? He protects the rim, passes out of double teams, has great hands around the basket, up-fakes on his jump-hooks, rebounds in traffic, even has a motor that keeps going and going (unlike a stiff like Eddy Curry). I'm not sure what's missing here. This is stunning. This is startling. There's almost no precedent for it. Just what the Lakers needed: More obscenely good luck. Meanwhile, I have to watch Al Jefferson whip jump-hooks off the front of the rim for the third straight season. I will now pour scalding hot water down my pants." -Bill Simmons on Andrew Bynum (11/08/06) | Mayhem
