Anyone still watching this show? (like me)

After Marty's awesome acoustic renditon of The Killer's "Mr. Brightside" last week Kirk Pengilly said that they would make next week "acoustic week" so they could really get a feel for everyone's vocals, but when they re-aired the show on VH-1 this afternoon, they cut that part out. Hmmm . . .

I think either Mig or Marty will win. Jordis is excellent (altho I hated her version of "Layla" last week), but I just can't see her as INXS' lead singer. I think Ty will be there towards the end as well, but I just think Mig or Marty fit better with INXS.

It stinks that this has been doing so poorly in the ratings because I've really enjoyed the singers and the lack of backstabbing/conflict that seems to have to be a part of every "reality" show these days. I've liked it much better than what I saw of American Idol (I only watched past the auditions this past season).

I have watched this show since the beginning and really enjoy it. I think that the final five will be Marty, Jordis, Mig, JD and Ty. I think if Mig pulls off "Baby I love you ways" this week, he should win. JD will need some awesome final performances to get past his character flaws. Jordis, the best singer by far, doesn't look like a pop singer (make no mistake, INXS is a pop band). And Marty. Well, I have enjoyed Marty but I would be worries about his voice. It sounds strained at times. Ty is good, but I think the pressure will get to him.

JD is just running on self-destruct. First we get the "everybody hates me" paranoia after the clinic on press relations. Then this week(end) he decides that "nobody's listening to me" so he takes his ball & walks away from the songwriting team activity. Granted he's making for good reality TV, but would you want to try to work with this guy day in & day out? If he can make it as a solo diva, all the best to him.

Right now, Marty looks to me like the leader, with Mig a close second. Ty is great, but, like Jordis, really isn't right for the band. *I* really like Deanna's voice. She had a couple of "eh" performances, but was totally back on track last week. (Granted, I'm genetically predisposed to really appreacite a kick-ass, fuill-on alto, but still...)

Is Marty going to do pigtails for "Hit Me Baby"? :-)

I hope he does NOT do pigtails tonight!

I am really interested to see what Marty does with Hit Me Baby. I hope he has fun with it and does not try to slow it down. I think Marty has to think he is in pretty good standing and now would be the time to try something different and singing Brittany in full pop mode would be a good start.

I agree that JD is self distructing. However, if any of them are going to make it as a solo artist, it will be him.

Hey, even Dave said pigtails! Marty was definitely interesting -- kinda weird, & not vocally great, but interesting. Mig was fabulous. I guess the rest of America didn't think that JD sucked anywhere nearly as badly as I thought he did. Suzie's "Bring it on Home" just showed that a pop-rock band is just the wrong genre for her -- it was good blues stuff. They really did give Deanna a technically difficult song -- she did better with it than she thought she did, but I think all that's required is a little more techincal coaching.

I missed the first couple of minutes tonight: How did we end up with Jordis & Marty with Mig for the encore? Jessica was definitely the one to go, & Suzie & Deanna were both definitely stronger. And I'm getting more ready for JD to vanish by the moment.

Mig got to do the encore but they announced that Marty, Jordis and Mig were the top three vote getters. Mig sat down at the piano and started to play and stopped and asked Marty and Jordis to join him onstage to sing the encore. Good stuff.

As good as I thought Mig was, and I did think he was real good AND think he will probably win, I thought Ty was outstanding. I found myself liking his version of Maggie May better than Rod Stewart's. He rocked.

I said from week 2 of this show that the final five should be Ty, JD, Jordis, Mig and Marty. That is why when it was the three ladies in the bottom three, I was hoping INXS would dump all three of them at once since none of them have a chance to fron th INXS. I look forward to the final 5 so they can sing two songs a night and we can get a better feel than.

They will try like hell to keep JD since he is the most TV firendly one of the bunch such that people want to see what he will do next. I also think he has a great voice so that will help.

Deanna off next week, Suzie the following week and then the elimination shoudl run Marty, Ty, Jordis, JD then Mig as the winner. A JD/Mig final is what I would like to see.

Our in-house Counsel saw Mig in "We Will Rock You" while he and his wife were in Europe this summer and he wasn't all that impressed with him before the show began. He's come around a little bit, and I told him this morning, "You're going to be able to say you saw the lead singer of INXS before he was the lead singer of INXS."

Of course, without having heard Mig, Marty or Jordis sing INXS songs, the jury is still a little out. I'm hoping that as they get down to the finals, they will be singing INXS songs, bottom three or not.

Excellent show.

Jordis did well & truly trash "Dream On", didn't she? I'm thinking we should about be done with the gimmick of voting for the bottom 3. Granted, it was just one bad performance out of many very good ones, but still. Marty & Ty get voted into the bottom 3 with really good performances, while JD (whose performances haven't been very good at all, IMO) & Jordis got off free. I figured Deanna was getting dumped too, which saddens me.

Meanwhile, the band just all seem to be in love with Suzie. She's certainly got a good voice, but I still don't think its a great fit for INXS.

Yeah, Mig's the winner.

    Yeah, Mig's the winner.

I thought Jordis trashed the last 3 songs she did ("Dream On" "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" and "Layla"), but has continually escaped the bottom three. The bottom three is getting a little tired, and I wonder at what point will they just have them sing INXS songs? At this point, they know that everyone left has the chops to sing and sing well, but they (and we) really need to see who sings INXS songs well, and in the manner in which they expect to go forward with.

Marty should front the House Band (not a dig of any sort, I think they'd be a great band) and Mig should be the new INXS lead singer.

I'm thinking with the remaining singers it might be a better career move to NOT win the contest and all that it entails-singing INXS' back catalogue like that guy who took over from Steve Perry in Journey.

I do like Marty and that weird dance manouver he did at the start of "Don't Change". I think the only person I would pay to watch perform is JD, although I would like to hear him do an original song.

Jordis wasn't great on the other 2, but "Dream On" was the first one that was painful a la bad national anthems at minor league sports. Mig should get the INXS gig; Suzie should seek Francine Reed as a mentor & go solo; Ty can do anything from Broadway to pop (tough entree into the rock world); Marty & Deanna need to find bands that fit their respective styles & make a whackload of $$$ each. And I should front the House Band. (Did I just type that? I must have been into the vodka & champers (The W)!)
And the House Band is absolutely killer good.

I am hoping this week that Suzie BOMBS on Bohemian Rhapsody and she gets the boot. Then next week each rocker sings 2 songs, one a cover and one a INXS song. Instrad of the dreaded bottom three, have America vote the bottom two and have INXS just dump one of them without singing an INXS song.

order of cast offs should be:

Suzie
Marty
Ty
Jordis
JD
Mig - the winner

I have a sinking feeling that Marty will be voterd off this week. From the songs that I saw, none of them I think he will sing very well. And since INXS has some wierdo infatuation with Suzie, I could see them saying good bye to Marty.

Well, Suzie didn't bomb tonight...in fact she gave a hell of a performance. She won me over from my previous "meh" whenever I heard her. I thought Suzie and Marty were the two best tonight, the rest can fight it out in the bottom.

The choir was an interesting addition. I think they took away from Marty's performance (as in, they were unnecesary for that song) but it was a kick seeing them jump up and down during the final portion of "Bohemian Rhapsody."

JD and Mig reminded me of two bad Vegas acts tonight.

Wow, I disagree. I thought Suzie was OK but sounded better because the band rocked. They made the song and she was just a secondary part whereas Freddie Mercury makes the song and the band is backing him up. Big difference in my book. I thought she was good but none too great.

Jordis got me tonight. I thought she was fabulous. I actually liked her song more than the original (yes, I am going to hell for that). I felt more emotion in her voice like the song meant a lot to her.

Ty was meh. I thought the song was OK and that he sang it fine but nothing great.

Marty was good but I still think he will be voted off. I just don't "feel" him as a pop/rock lead singer. More of a Seattle-isg grunge rock guy. He didn;t ruin the song, but he did kill it.

JD was great and no, I am not a JD fanatic. I just feel like he has a presence on stage and brings a lot of electricity to the show. He did a great version of Suspicious Minds and I enjoyed it a lot. Not his best performance (see The Letter and California Dreamin') but plenty good enough to stay out of the bottom three.

Mig was good, but I kept feeling like I was watching a Broadwat performer and not a rock singer. I still feel liek even though he is the best fit for the group, he is still too theatrical for more liking.

Bottom line, the only singer I would consider paying money to see front INXS is JD. However, I am sticking with Mig as my winner.

My wife thinks Suzie will win. And for the first time all season, a small part of me thinks she is right. She picked Suzie from day one and kept telling me how strong her voice is. Of course, I scoffed at that. But then again, I have not picked a winner in a LONG time.

Bottom three tonight: Mig, Marty and Ty.
Going home: Marty

Was it fair of Ty to play the race card?

Glad that I wasn't the only one to notice that all three performances tonight were fairly poor. It's getting down to the nitty gritty!

I wasn't surprised Ty played the race card as he had alluded to it in earlier episodes. I don't think that had anyhting to do with him leaving though. I never saw him as a lead singer of INXS. I do see him as a Broadway star. I think he is more theatrical and would do well in that venue.

For a split second I thought INXS was going to drop all three of them. I thought JD did the best of the three but I thought he was weak, so you can guess what I thought of Jordis and Ty.

As for next week, if they don;t sing two songs each, I will be pissed. 5 songs to fill one hour is not enough. They should sing a cover and a INXS song. This way it gives the voting public a chance to see how they sing INXS. Really, who cares how they sing Queen or The Police or REM. If they can't sing "Kick" or "Listen Like Thieves" well, why pay to see them?

I thought Marty would go this week, but Ty was my second choice.

I am hoping beyond hope that Suzie is next. Out of the five left, she is the last one I would pay to hear sing INXS. The longer she stays, the more dread I am filled with that she will win.

I tend to agree. It had a few laughs, mostly on the back of the great Steve Coogan, but it wasn't anything special.
