So wait, Phil ISNT gone after all?

When I heard Dan not being on this morning, I got the impression that since he had to work Christmas & New Year's week (when no one else seemed to be working), maybe they gave him this week off?

As much as I dont care for him doing his show by himself, I sure hope he's not gone all together.

ESPN radio is definitely falling off. I agree with all the points made as far as their programming. Mike and Mike are horrible. They are a poor version of Mike and the Mad Dog( overbearing fat guy with effeminate co-host with screechy voice). I never knew Cowherd read his takes.( I used to live in CT, for most of my life. ESPN is located in Bristol. a small town. The locals love the business aspect of ESPN but hate the personalities because they insult the town and its people.) Back on point- Kaselias and his brother hosted the afternoon drive show, called "the Sports Brothers", it stunk out loud. Now, it is just Kaselias. Dibble was very annoying, but he was more of an everyman, Patrick is basically a namedropping hairdo dishrag!

I didn't hear Phil on the show today, but I did hear him on Tuesday, and he didn't seem to have the personality that he did when he was with Dan & Dibs, only time will tell on that front.
I didn't hear Gammons yell at Kaselias, as I had changed the channel by that point because I couldn't take him for that long. I don't recall Gammons ever yelling at another ESPN personality though. Lets hope Gammons doesn't find out the Mr. Tony definition of the word "vacation."

Gammons yelling at Kasilias was great. Basically, Eric asked how great Jack Morris was since he hadn't won a Cy Young and Gammons went off. Best quote (paraphrasing): "How can catfish Hunter be in the Hall and not Jack Morris."

    * V Show gets more to weekends only.

Chris Moore was hilarious...very underrated, and his dead on Dickie V. impersonation was always good for a laugh, and Bob Valvano was just a good guy. I was glad to hear Chuck Wilson on the other night, but he didn't seem to have as much fun as he was when Moore was his sidekick.

Now that we have had to endure a week of Eric Kaselias, what are the chances Dan comes back tomorrow? I sure hope so, and I wonder how/if he is going to explain the Dibs situation.

It's usually Mouse policy to not acknowledge it.

Unfortunately, we've lost the first hour of Patrick to the Gnome. I assume that's when he'll mention it.

It all went to hell when they didn't bring back The Fabulous Sports Babe.

Show opening announcer dude: "Filling in for Dan Patrick today .... is DAN PATRICK".

WHEW! He had me scared during that "...." part.

It looks like ShowKiller is still there afterall (how about that), but no mention of Dibbs as of 10:45am (The show starts at 10am for me). Since DP didnt say anything about Dibbs in his opening, he'll most likely save it for the closing, if at all.

In what I would say is a unforeseen turn of events, Dan said that he would discuss the Rob Dibble situation in regards to the show later today. They must be getting a ton of e-mail for people who don't know what's going on. It will be quite interesting to see what he has to say and how he phrases it.

I just caught a part of it. He said that he wanted to address it when what Dibble is doing next was assured, but had to say he won't be back due to the volume of calls/e-mails. He said his humor would be missed, and seemed broken up. However, he was OK pretty quickly after talking.

Too late to be named a pitching coach anywhere. I have to believe this was just an attempt to say 'he's gone, I'm sorry, I can't do anything about it'.

That was the take I had on it, too. He was sorry to see him go, events out of his control, etc. On to the next story.

Agreed. I wonder if they're gonna replace him. DP isnt so terrible by himself afterall, but there is an obvious void.

It may be that they let Phil have a more vocal on air presence [speculation here]. It seems as though Dan sought out his opinion more than just "Phil, can you update the poll, please?"

Phil was getting a lot of airtime last week on the SportsBash. Maybe they will be upping his on-air role.

ESPN Radio is quickly becoming unlistenable (if that is a word). Mike and Mike, just jam a stick in my ear, that would be less painful. Mr Tony leaves, the full story on that would be interesting to hear some day, seems how he is back on the radio in DC. The Herd, the only saving grace about that show is the fact that he is the only person at ESPN who does not seem to be scared about the topic of gambling. Patrick's show, good god, that show has become painfully boring with out Dibbs. He just seems lost and goes on and on about nothing.
All I can say is thank god for XM, with Czabe on in the morning and rebroadcast in the afternoon. Even Shemans show at night is better then what the four letter is putting on. And make this an even better day, I just looked at Xm's website in the press releases and what did I see but....Mr. Tony is coming to XM, it says they are going to be the only national outlet for his new show. Mr. Tony followed by the Czabe life is getting better. I used to hate Fox sports radio, now that is what i listen to if i want to be entertained and ESPN if i need to sleep.

XM. He will be signing 3 year deal soon to do a daily baseball show. Good for him. Its obvious the DP show is boring w/o him and with Dibs talking just baseball it should be a good baseball show. Best of Luck Dibs.........

I knew that Dibs would wind up on the XM MLB station. It made the most sense. I wonder if he is going to have a sidekick or is he going to do the show himself. He'll be really good at the show, as he was in Bristol. Dan's show has gone downhill a little, there is no dumb fun in it anymore. I haven't heard about Phil's girlfriend in a while...

The big debate between my friend and me is how the execution was going to be delayed. I said the other C.O. or the electrician was going to come forward. My friend said Sucre planted another rat. We were both wrong.
