Can anyone explain to me why Chris Rix is still taking snaps for FSU? Four years of screwups is enough!

Bobby must really be going senile. :P

Rix is a good quarterback. Apparently he just can't handle the pressure against Miami.

I did enjoy the patented Chris Rix ACROBATICS~! we got in the fourth quarter on that dive for the first down. Never gets old.

I'm not just talking about failure to perform against Miami. The guy is a great athlete, no doubt, but a quarterback, especially a fifth year senior, should not be throwing ridiculous passes, failing to protect the ball, be unable to read defenses, etc. Rix, despite a talented offense, has been unable to produce anything except against weak teams. Every once in a while you see a glimmer of talent, but that usually involves his "acrobatics", not the type of consistent performance (including the PASSING game) that a top tier football program requires.

Verdict: 5 years of wasted scholarship. Time to start developing the new QBs.

Well, like I said, he can't do squat against Miami. I've seen him do a fantastic job against other teams. Good teams too. I think people have wanted him to fail his entire career, probably because he came in his freshman year extremely cocky. Ah well.

Well, to Florida State fans like myself, if you cant do squat against Miami then whats the point? No one wanted him to fail, we have been waiting patiently for him to develop into a good QB and it just has not happened. He has made stupid mistake after stupid mistake on the field and off. Fifth-year QBs arent supposed to fumble snaps in OT of a crucial game. IM glad hes got his faith, because he would probably be lynched in Tallahassee if he didnt.

Dude, why is no one screaming mad at Jeff Bowden. Yes Rix sucked, but my god Peyton Manning on his best day couldn't have overcome the retardation that is Jeff's playcalling. He's sucked from day one and is just getting worse.

This team will never get any better on offense until they get rid of Jeff. Period.

I agree. Some of those plays that were called were just awful. Why do you pass the ball when you have the lead during the last 5 minutes of the game?

Unfortunately, how do you fire your son? Jay Paterno's gotten the blame over here at Penn State for the past few years, and while it seems like an easy thing to do (just say "you're fired"), I don't think that it's easy for a coach to get rid of his son. Maybe he'll get a job somewhere else so Bobby doesn't have to make the decision.

I laughed during the halftime show, when they showed that block he made on the offensive lineman during the first half and they acted like it was the great thing ever. Although they were right when they said it was the best play he had the first half. I mean I admire him waanting to help block, but when a block that allowed what? a 3 yard run? Is your best play of the game that's pretty sad.

Of course Brock Berlin didn't really impress me either. I'm glad my Gators have Leak, I would've taken him last year as a freshmen over both of these guys as seniors.

The playcalling near the end was definitely kind of strange, passing when you're up and you want to bleed the clock, but FSU couldn't really get anything going. They had less than 200 yards total offense. But with the development of Rix (or lack thereof), shouldn't a big heap of your blame go to your quarterbacks' coach? FSU's had some pretty good QBs over the years, but Rix has seemed like an anomaly for his whole career. But do you, as FSU, bench the veteran QB for an underclassman so early in a season when there are already rumblings that the playcalling sucks, or do you just plug along for another couple of games in the hope that your offense comes together and rely heavily on your defense?

It's so tough to see such a huge rivalry game go down so early in the season because you know these teams are going to get better through September and October. I sort of wish that it was next year so the ACC would have 12 teams and a playoff so a possibility, however slim, of FSU and Miami meeting again would exist.

As a Cane, I'm sorry that Rix and Beitia (the kicker) are going to graduate - we've just owned them the past couple years. I do agree with Quezzy, Leak is probably the best of the bunch (until Kyle Wright gets a chance, he's a STUD), but Berlin didn't play too badly. He certainly wasn't perfect, but Ryan Moore dropped a bunch of passes, and Brocky played better than he did last year.

What a game though... hehe I was there, row 6 of the student section - 2nd best game I've ever been to.

Would Miami and FSU be in seperate division though enabling them to play in a championship though? I would think it would be logical for them to be in the same division. As much as I would like to think FSU and Miami are just overrated I have to admit it being the first game surely made them rusty. They can't really move the game to the end of the year because FSU plays UF. They should probably do the same as UF-UT and have an easy warm up game and then play each other the second or third game.

Well I didn't get to see the game live, and didn't get to see Leak play live either. But I did get to see Ingle Martin whoop up on some Division II Samford Bulldogs. I guess that's something....

They showed the divisional breakdown for next year, and Miami & FSU would be in separate divisions.

The guy who puts the giant plywood signs on Hartsfield Ave is back out with his FIRE JEFF BOWDEN sign that I saw twice last year.

I'm just doing my damndest right now not to taunt each and every person in my office. It's difficult. But that said, at least FSU didn't have to wait for the ball to sail past either side of the goalpost this year to know they missed a key field goal. :D

Can we agree that they should NEVER play this game as an opener again? How far ahead were the defenses? Next year BOTH teams will have new QBs, so if they play Labor Day weekend again, my final score prediction is 4-2. The game would have been much better if both offenses had played some games.

Yeah, with that Miami offense I would save the taunting cause it'll come back to bite you in spades this year I'm betting. The ACC's got a few teams that might just make Miami look bad this year. Berlin showed he really hasn't gotten any better either.

The offense for Miami will start suffering even more when teams like Virginia Tech or Clemson start moving 8-9 players in the box to stop the run/blitz like hell and dare Berlin to beat them single-handed. Don't forget the offensive line for UM is a bit patched up.
