(npr.org) I really dug the Brady Bunch - Robert Reed's book detailed a lot about his relationship with Sherwood, which was quite...strained. RIP, Sherwood, thanks for the memories. I've seen all those shows twenty times I am sure. Not to mention Gilligan's Island was a staple of my TV watching as a youth. RIP Mr Schwartz. Thanks for the laughs.

Y!: # 3 Posted on 12.7.11 2054.31 | Instant Rating: 4.65 to show how pervasive Gilligan is, I was working with a partner a few weeks ago in Europe on one of my classes and in the middle of the class, and my boss instant messages me in the middle of the class (I had forgotten to turn off IM) and said "How's your little buddy"(in reference to the other guy). The class saw the IM. One guy from the Netherlands almost immediately asked me, "does that make you the Skipper?" Yeah, Mr Schwartz created some real enduring stuff - not exactly Plato's Republic, but enduring in its own way.

Gilligan's Island is everywhere.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Infantry, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army National Guard! Job well done in Iraq! Bob Denver's book from years back also had a lot of love for Sherwood Schwartz. High praise indeed. RIP, sir, and thanks for the laughs. If only they still made TV shows like yours.

"RIP Sherwood Schwartz. At his funeral, In lieu of a eulogy, they will play a theme song that tells his backstory." @JElvisWeinstein, on Twitter
The remake of "Poseidon" got the kind of bad reviews I love to read about modern movies where CGI excess is substituted for character development and dialog the audience might actually remember.
