Synthesiser pioneer Moog dies

Even if you may not know what a Moog synthesizer is, I guarantee you've heard one. A true pioneer in the field of electronic music...

The one, and only, instrument I ever bought and learned (somewhat anyway...) to play was a Moog because it made such wonderful sounds on the majority of the records I owned. DEVO made me do.

This is sad news.

Check out the albums by "The Moog Cookbook"
They're all popular songs redone on the Moog. Trippy stuff I used to play in my DJ days.

I totally forgot about that album. Despite the high cheese factor, it is quite good - although it scary to think that even THOSE songs are now dated.

When I was young Lou Reed both during and after his Velvet Underground days was constantly either on my turntable (and later cassette and CD) or in my head. Songs that exposed all aspects of life and often in a weird way celebrated it.
