A friend of mine called me to tell me about it.
At first I didn't want to believe him.
Then I kinda shrugged it off since I hadn't seen him in so long.

But then my mind started spinning.
All of those great matches in the 80s and the 90s that I grew up on. The crazy promos, the colorful attire and display.
The entrance music, Macho was larger than life.
My mind shifted to the Megapowers exploding. My dad and I were glued to the tv for all of that.

He will be missed but he has left us with so much goodness and industry changing matches, I can only thank him for that.

After that video game ad made its way around the internet not too long ago, I had hoped Savage would be picked up to do something to get him on my screen more often.

It's a shame that he died from a car crash. Who knows what happened to cause it, but the fact is that if had happened somewhere other than a car he could just be in the hospital now instead.

Macho sadness indeed.

The worst part is that the only person who could rap a memorial song is Randy himself.

Nobody embodied a Pro-Wrestler like Randy Savage. The Voice, the attitude, everything.

Shame, he was actually on my list of famous people I wanted to meet in person. Deepest sorrows to his family and friends.

Fascinating stuff I never knew about regarding Savage, Bill Watts, the Jarretts and Jerry Lawler.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Savage was one of the best wrestlers I have ever seen. Reading some of the tweets from other wrestlers, you can tell what a great influence he had on other wrestlers throughout his career. Always a Hall Of Famer in my book... RIP Macho Man.

I say don't wait until April.
Make an exception and put him in the Hall of Fame this Monday on Raw.

I'm now imagining Randy Savage ascending that stairway to heaven while "Pomp and Circumstance" plays.

And I'm smiling.

Also, I agree: Put Randy Savage in the Hall of Fame right-freaking-now. Don't wait for WrestleMania.

IGN has put up a memorial article for Randy Savage, not only discussing his favorite matches-- but showing them. Must-see.

You inspired me more than this world will ever know. Enjoy.

You were a tower of power that was too sweet to be sour,
You were funky like a monkey every minute of every hour.
For you, space was the place and time distortion had to be,
And your fans here on earth wanted the madness for eternity.
You met every challenge with fists clinched and face to face,
You even fought and defeats dragons and snakes.
Flying off the ropes with an elbow drop,
There was no way you could ever be stopped.
Identifiable by your voice alone,
Even being Dubbed the macho king while you sat on your throne.
We hung on your words with interviews memorable and classic,
And we knew it was serious when you took off your glasses.
I promise not to lose you in the sands of time,
For you will always be that all time hero of mine.

This is what brought wrestling to my attention as young boy. Since then, I've been pretty much married to wrestling. Yes, married. I mean, if you find a woman that can accept you & wrestling then you're set for life. Couple examples here on the The-W, CRZ & Matt Tracker but I do figure they do more than just invest time in wrestling. There probably way more rounded than I. So that's pretty much a majority of my life between the internet, what ever "reality" I have, & independent wrestling shows. I look back now to when I was accidentally flipping through channels being up late on a Saturday night finding the Mega Powers exploding. Hulk Hogan & "Macho Man" vs. Akeem & The Big Bossman. God rest Ray Traliors sole too.

I had to sit & rationalize yesterday. Something I really don't do all that well. I think CRZ picks up on it like lighting rod which is another reason I stick around this board because his quirky playful nature offsets my awkwardly skewed reality, believe I've admitted this here before. Yet, I am getting off topic.

As many of you have said, "Macho Man" Randy Savage was a complete wrestling package. No other will be like him. Jay Lethal imitating for so long was pretty cool with his approval. I mean, seriously...as many people that have come through the wrestling industry can you identify ones that stand out? Yeah, of course Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, but Andre The Giant, & of course "Macho Man" Randy Savage. He's near the top of ANY wrestling list in the past 100 years. You can roll through wrestling ability, move sets, & whether or not wrestlers had charisma but Savage had that "it" factor & complete package. When he was on, no one in the world could light a candle to him.

Honestly, this is such a tragic end. When people say this phrase, "live like today is your last because you never know when it will be." It carries so much weight but we all shrug & pass it off. Life, so fragile. Yet we watch wrestling where daily these "entertainers" test the boundaries of that fragile line. I don't think Randy would've wanted it any other way than ridding life on the edge of a lighting bolt.

I'll miss him dearly, as this one again reels in that my childhood is continuing to fade & I'm continuing to age. Yeah, little bit of rhyme. I hope where ever he ended up he's dropping the top rope elbow drop.

Goodbye, "Macho Man" Randy Savage. RIP

Love, Jonathan.

Savage's most famous spot. He was my favorite growing up. He was on "my" local program and I knew that he and Liz were married when he started in WWF.

RIP Macho

I was at a comedy show last night, & one of the groups at the end of their set said that they'd finished their regular material, but had one more thing to do. They announced that Macho Man had died, & they had a really cute tribute song. Most of the audience hadn't heard the news, but absolutely everybody in the room knew who he was. In many ways, he may have been more iconic in mainstream america than even HH.

RIP, Macho Man.

I first read about this on a wrestling newsboard, but I had my initial doubts when I read that TMZ broke the news. But when it was confirmed to me by JKalyn, the shock set in.

What a loss. I always wondered why he wasn't used more often in TNA - he looked GOOD during his two month stint there.

RIP, Randy!

Abyss as champ COULD be good (I stress the word could). The X-Division has been so stale for a long time with them using the same small pool of talent and breaking up tag teams to keep it filled.
