According to WFAN in New York, Phil Rizzuto passed away today at 89. Holy cow, I shall miss that huckleberry indeed...

He was supposed to live until 95, but he wanted to beat the traffic. RIP Scooter.

There was never a better Hall of Fame induction speech than Rizzuto's. Other people may have earned it more, but nobody appreciated it as much.

My mother and my grandfather tried to make me a Yankees fan. Rizzuto made me a Yankees fan.

I want to say something about this being the first time that all four teams in the LCSs are from the heartland. It's kind of tough to make it clear, since people usually don't think of Texas as the midwest (even though it's due south of the midwest)
