Shocking news to wake up to. Arguably the best young pitcher in the game and his ceiling was still rising. A guy who I watched devour Mets lineups on a regular basis. Someone you never wanted to see as the opposing pitcher, but a guy you were glad to see work his magic even when he was making your favorite lineup look like a bunch of scrubs. He was also a Cuban defector and a reported good guy. 24 is too young for anyone. RIP Jose Fernandez.

My sincerest condolences to Marlins fans, the organization, and to Fernandez's family.

You'd think that jumping into pitch-black waters to save tour mother would be enough badass.....except he had no idea who went overboard, he jumped for who could have been a stranger.

24 is far, far too young. RIP.

Ah, don't I wish. The Philly papers are reporting no contact, with rumors that Theo's leaving baseball or taking a year off. Expect new Phillie's GM Gerry Hunsicker or (more likely) new Phillies GM Pat Gillick in the upcoming days.
