Sorry to hear this. I am glad that the movie gave him more widespread recognition in his final years. His stuff wasn't always my cup of tea, but I admired the fact that a guy like him (a Joe Blow) could make it as a writer.

The Question is a fantastic character but if all you know about him is from JLU, you really ain't seen nothing yet. His original series in the late 1980's was one of the most unique and best runs of DC comics from that era.
