You may not know her name, but you certainly know some of the songs she co-wrote (usually with her then-husband Jeff Barry, and sometimes with Phil Spector as well), including such gems as "Be My Baby", "Leader Of The Pack", "Hanky Panky", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Baby I Love You", "River Deep Mountain High", "I Can Hear Music", and "Da Do Ron Ron". My personal favorite was the glorious "Then He Kissed Me". Not a bad life's work at all.

Good book: Always Magic in the Air: The Bomp and Brilliance of the Brill Building Era (The W at Amazon)
