Saw CRZ' post about Dominick Dunne and it occurred to me that no one had posted anything about another luminary who we lost today--songwriter Ellie Greenwich. You may not know her name, but you certainly know some of the songs she co-wrote (usually with her then-husband Jeff Barry, and sometimes with Phil Spector as well), including such gems as "Be My Baby", "Leader Of The Pack", "Hanky Panky", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Baby I Love You", "River Deep Mountain High", "I Can Hear Music", and "Da Do Ron Ron". My personal favorite was the glorious "Then He Kissed Me". Not a bad life's work at all.
I didn't pay anything, actually. We plan to buy the disc box so we can obtain the second disc. The album is amazing. I'm actually listening to it right now. "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" is my favorite track.
