Saw CRZ' post about Dominick Dunne and it occurred to me that no one had posted anything about another luminary who we lost today--songwriter Ellie Greenwich. You may not know her name, but you certainly know some of the songs she co-wrote (usually with her then-husband Jeff Barry, and sometimes with Phil Spector as well), including such gems as "Be My Baby", "Leader Of The Pack", "Hanky Panky", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Baby I Love You", "River Deep Mountain High", "I Can Hear Music", and "Da Do Ron Ron". My personal favorite was the glorious "Then He Kissed Me". Not a bad life's work at all.
Sorry, I haven't been near the records lately - or I've gone to sleep forgetting to do this. "Thank you Eric B. Thank you Rakim. I am much richer now." Sire 21001-0 (1988) side one Im Nin'alu (Played in Full Mix)
