From the files of "wait.... he was recently alive?"

Director Blake Edwards dies (news.blogs.cnn.com)

I've seen more of his films than I initially thought - and they were all pretty funny.

Ditto on all counts. I didn't know he was alive and I've seen more of his films than I expected.

RIP

As usual, The Onion A/V Club put together a great write up complete with clips:

I didn't know Edwards worked with Orson Welles on the War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Wow, he was old.

I Love the Great Race, for all its slapstick silliness.

It just doesn't seem proper to show a clip from S.O.B. and leave out the money shot where Julie Andrews gets her kit off..

Now if you have an extra 10 minutes, I'll recommend the scene that leads up to it: Click Here (youtube.com)

Just the money shot: Click Here (youtube.com) (NSFW)

I still pull out The Great Race every 3 years or so. Then there was the time Blake received an honorary Oscar, and drove his motorized wheelchair right through a wall.

Dying is easy. Comedy is hard. Rest easy, funnyman ;)
