I guess you either love Ronnie or you hate him, but don't you think the RIP with a picture is a little strong? Maybe, maybe not but he's an awful shady cat compared to the five soliders who died yesterday. I'm not saying we should RIP the soliders everyday either. I guess I was wondering why give him both a death line and a picture on a board where you really aren't into that sort of display?

Well, you know, he IS a former President.

Very classy move. I couldn't vote until the 1988 election, but it was this man that inspired me to vote. Before hearing him speak, I had always been apathetic about my voice in our goverment.

In turn, I tried to get as many people to vote as I could, whether they agreed with me or not.

By the same token, love him or hate him, he's earned all the respect that he's gotten from the broadcast media today.

RIP Dutch...

There isn't a response I could make to what Joe has said that would turn this into a thread about me, and that's not what I'm going for. For now, let's chalk it up to generational differences and if you REALLY want, we can talk about it later.

I didn't vote for him twice but he was President and a man of strongly held convictions and I respect that. Good move Zed.

The man did symbolize America in the 80's. Maybe not my America, but maybe yours. I am from the same generation as you, and as much as I may have not liked the guy I can respect his final 10 years of life. I do respect Nacny though. She went from a 'Just say NO' puppet to a wife that really loved her husband through the end (in my eyes). I've seen a family member go through Alzheimer's
and I wish it on no one, and I would like to think that my Misses would stay with me to the end, or me with her no matter how ugly. For now I will chalk it up to political differences and leave it at that.

The man did make an impact in all of our lives, and our kids lives like it ... or not. I apoligize for stepping on any toes. My thoughts on Reagan as president probably belong in politics and at a later date.

I think the RIP banner is very classy and appropriate.

And a good choice for a picture as well. See the upcoming 6/5 covers of Time and Newsweek. (I would post the pics but cannot)

I think it was appropriate too. I wasn't old enough to vote against him, and my family is very democratic, but we are smart enough to hate the man, not the position.

We never liked Reagan, but he was the 40th president of our great country, but as a former president he deserves some respect

RIP Gipper.

It is very classy, as it would be for any former President regardless of political affiliation.

When I was in kindergarten, Reagan was the current president at the time, so that made him the first president I ever recognised. My deepest sympathies go out to Nancy Reagan.

RIP, Mr. Reagan

(In regards to the banner, I think it's simple and classy. Just like that Mr. Perfect photo they put at the start of RAW one night.)

I was 10 when Reagan was elected; while I have vague memories of the 1976 Carter election, Reagan's election was the first that I remember reasonably well.

He, quite frankly, is my favorite President. It may be because he was elected when I was younger and more naive when he was elected, but Reagan was revered and respected at my house when I was a pup.

I think the picture and banner are very classy, thanks to CRZ and Guru.

I have no problem with the Ronnie banner, but I think it sucks that CRZ never put up a "RIP Fred Rogers" banner as I suggested. Mr. Rogers made a difference in my life in ways Reagan could never touch, yet the only reply I got from CRZ when I suggested a small, one-day memorial was "Ummm....nah."

"Crom... Ive never prayed to you before I have no tongue for it. No one not even you will remember whether we were good men or bad, why we fought, why we died. No. All that matters is that today, two stood against many; that is whats important. Valor pleases you, Crom, so grant me one request: Grant me revenge! I would like to add that the media is getting out of hand here. It's one thing to pay some respects, but the Reagan lovefest is going a little overboard. Where does one draw a line? There are still a lot of things going on in the world, but maybe I really don't get it.

[sarcasm] Wow, all that for a guy who was only President of The United States of America for eight years, Governor of California for eight years, and a Hollywood movie star for mere decades? Who the fuck does that damn media think they are? How DARE they remember a man fondly in death! How DARE people not bring up every single negative memory or sin this man committed! [/sarcasm]

[more sarcasm] When that Schwartzenwhatever guy's day finally comes, I better not hear ANYTHING except how bad "The Last Action Hero" sucked, and how he grabbed all of them female buttocks! Sheesh....media! [/more sarcasm]

[disclaimer] No comparison between Arnold and Reagan intended except the whole California governor/actor thing [/disclaimer]

"I'm very sorry the government taxes their tips, that's fucked up. That ain't my fault. It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government fucks in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you ask me to sign something that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And as for this non-college bullshit I got two words for that: learn to fuckin' type, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big fuckin' surprise."

No offense, but your three posts in this thread have proven that. Time to close this thread (was a few days ago I guess).
