So i was watching the Ring of Honor's first anniversary show today and in one interview someone referred to a "scramble match". Later I was looking at their webpage and an upcoming even also mentioned this "scramble match". So what is a Scramble Match? Is this just their way of calling it a hardcore or no dq match or is there some kind of set of rules for this type of match?
It's a tag match where you don't have to tag out. If you roll out to the floor, your partner can legally take your place in the match (like in lucha). It's designed so they can have a faster match.
They are generally my least favorite of the matches on RoH shows, generally because people take shitloads of incredible moves and totally no-sell them. It takes the realism out of matches when someone gets dumped on their head 50 times and is up doing some sort of plancha 20 seconds later. Sometimes they can be fun, and some cool moves get busted out once in a while, but for the most part it's a way to get a bunch of spot-artists on the card, and maybe a gem will be born out of it.
