Now with Flair!

by Christopher Robin Zimmerman
Recapper of Honor™

CABLE GUIDE SEZ: A wrestling legend comes to Ring of Honor. (HDTV) TV-14,CC,Stereo. HD Hmmm, who could it be????

"You are watching a special presentation of Ring of Honor wrestling on HDNet!"

Open - THIS is RING OF HONOR WRESTLING #7, coming to you from The Arena in Philadelphia, PA and airing 5/2/09 (taped 4/9) on HDNet! Clips are different - Bison Smith is gone. Soon, he'll just have been a mere figment of our imagination...

We open tonight's show with the "ROH" chant, and a couple dudes in the ring. One is clearly ring announcer (consults ROH website) BOBBY CRUISE. If I had to guess, I'd say the silent one is main money man CARY SILKIN. "Ladies and gentlemen, at this time please welcome to Ring of Honor and HDNet, the new ambassador to Ring of Honor, the legendary NATURE BOY RIC FLAIR!" We are spared video of our commentators MIKE HOGEWOOD & DAVE PRAZAK but since the popup appears at this time, I'll make the note. Yes, ROH DID manage to find a copy of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" they could secure broadcast rights to. Sooner or later...THERE HE IS! A little trouble getting down the ramp, but all is forgiven with the classic fakeout to the fan at ringside. Flair takes a moment to bask as the crowd finds front row fans salaaming. Hug for Silkin, mic pass from Cruise. They exit, leaving him alone in the centre. "Let me see if I have this right. It's the Ring of Honor - HDNet - and the Nature Boy - all in the same building on the same night? Woooo! I think the thought process needs to be continued that Ric Flair is just not gonna retire and leave professional wrestling. It's not gonna happen! When the Ring of Honor called me, I didn't have to blink, I didn't have to think for a second, I said 'Ring of Honor - Ric Flair - that works for me.' This is a great company with a great ownership base, and a ton of great, young talent behind that curtain. There might even be - I know it's hard to believe - there might even be a Nature Boy back there - there might be a Shawn Michaels back there - there might be a Triple H (boos) - it's not about that, guys...it's about the growth, the belief, and the sport of professional wrestling - these guys work as hard at it as anybody I've ever been associated with. I'm honoured, and it's a moment in history because this is my first night as the ambassador of this great company. And talkin' about great company, let's talk about their great Ring of Honor champion, my friend and a guy I've wrestled at least five times over the years - JERRY LYNN, Ring of Honor World Champion." And out he comes, belt around waist, slapping hands with the fans on his way to the ring. Handshake of Honor™! "You, my friend, and I'm honored to say this because ladies and gentlemen, I HAVE been in the ring with him, this guy is MORE than World championship calibre, he's a World champion right now. Jerry, I'm honored to be with you - congratulations. You're in a good place, brother. It's a big job. And you know that to be the man, you gotta beat the man. Right now, Jerry Lynn is - the - man." "Well, first of all, I wanna thank Cary Silkin for allowing me this opportunity to come to Ring of Honor and show everything that I've still got what it takes, and actually rejuvinating my career. And, uh...I owe YOU a thanks. I know you, you've had thousands of matches, but back in 1995, the first time you and I stepped foot in the ring, the fans don't know this, but you were in a major car wreck a few days before the show...and you still showed up, and gutted it out through the pain, and taught me a very valuable lesson that night - like you said, to be the man, you've really gotta beat the man, and you showed me, you taught me about honour, pride and passion, and after adopting those principles AND my life, I came here to Ring of Honor and you know what? I beat the man. It wasn't easy, I tell you what's even harder now - it's to stay the man. And after twenty years of workin' so hard, I've gotta work twice as hard to keep this title and I just wanna say thank you very much, Ric." I think that's the third handshake between these guys - but now AUSTIN ARIES is out onto the ramp to shake it up. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Y'know there's lots of talk goin' on out here about bein' the man and beatin' the man and beatin' men and all of these things, there's talk about there might be this kinda guy in the back of the locker room, there might be this guy in the back of the locker room, well guess who IS in the back in the locker room? ME! Austin Aries. (pause for "Austin Asshole" chant - crowd mic is also picking up very shrill children) You see the fact of the matter is this: I have nothing but respect for both of you gentlemen, I really do. But see the facts are like this: Ric, before you came here to be the ambarssador of Ring of Honor, Jerry, long before you came here to resurrect your career, guess who was the man here? ME. *I* am the former ROH World Champion. I was the guy that walked the aisle every night and defended that belt - I backed up my walk and I backed up my talk! So we wanna talk about champions? Well I felt I should be out here, 'cause I been a champion my whole life. And now we got the whole pecking order - who's at the top and who's at the bottom? Well, maybe people forgot, but A Double's still at the top - and A Double is comin' for that right there, the ROH World title. And tonight, in the main event, when I destroy Roderick Strong, there won't have to be any question who the man is...'cause you're gonna be lookin' at him." Flair has the mic back. "I like your attitude - and, if you're in the main event of THIS show for the Ring of Honor, you've gotta be a pretty fair hand. I'm lookin' forward to seeing you in action. I hope that everything you're packin' back here (points to...backside?) can back this up (points to mouth)." "You ain't gotta worry about anything, Ric - as the ambassador now of this company, you have my word that everything I'm packin' back here, I can back up. ... Woo." Still picking up isolated fans - Isolated Fan: "You still suck." Flair's music starts up again. "Thank you!" Off the ropes - strut! Woooo! Lynn parts the ropes for Flair - and he in turn for Lynn. Flair with a kiss for the hand of a ringside female but that's all he's got time for. Sorry, kids!

TONIGHT'S MAIN EVENT: Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries! I wonder who's gonna win!

OUR OPENING CONTEST
THAT YOUNG KNOCKOUT KID, CHRIS HERO (Metropolis - 240 pounds - with Sara Del Rey and Shane Hagadorn) vs. KENNY OMEGA (Winnipeg, MB - 221 pounds)

Referee: TODD SINCLAIR
Time Limit: 15 minutes

Smacktalk is GONE, at least for this match - so are the "1...2...3!!!" intro graphics. That's probably a plus. A MINUS would be the commentators talking over the ring intros. Larry Sweeney is not mentioned - Prazak calls Hagadorn "the head of Ringside Operations." Hoge must be on the take from Omega because he's REALLY talking up how he's been so impressive every time he's seen him (what, once?) and how tonight might be THE night he breaks through. What I'M thinking is that we're not going to see the second man out get the victory this time. ROH: Switching it up! Hogewood still hammering home the concept of Hero's loaded elbow pad. In lieu of a Handshake of Honor™, Hero kicks Omega's outstretched hand - that'll do. LET'S GO! Lockup, go behind by Hero, leg trip, holding onto the knuckle lock - Omega kips up and reverses. "Watching ROH at a friend's house?" crawl. Hero breaks free and HE'S back to the knuckle lock. Standing on the face for good measure. Omega counters with a drop toehold. Floats over to the headlock. Hero back up - picks him up, and drops him, again grabing the arm. Head scissors attempt by Omega - doesn't break it. Hero brings him back up - arm over the shoudler - working the arm again - Omega climbs up Hero to break the hold, grabs a side headlock of his own, Hero powering out of it and for good measure keeping Omega from running the ropes by grabbing a waistlock that stops him in his tracks. Flips him over with a takedown using the arm - but Omega is quickly up, sidestepping the charge, leapfrog, drops down for Hero to run over, Japanese armdrag (!), dropkick takes Hero out - he's gonna fly - TOPE CON HILO connects!! Crowd slams the barricade to make much noise. We'll take a "double feature" style replay of that one. Coming back to live action, Hero rolled back in, Omega up top, HIGH cross body splash - and now rolling him up with La Magistral! but only 2. Whip is reversed, Hero runs in, Omega back to back up and over, running to the opposite corner, jumping up, backflip down - only Hero isn't there. Hero IS close enough to grab Omega's head and slam it backwards into the canvas. Hero throws Omega between the ropes and now HE'S gonna fly - dropkick through the ropes!! Hero lands on his feet and Omega lands on his back. Sarah Del Rey is delighted! Hero rolls Omega back in - Hero back in through the ropes - running - running into a back elbow by Omega - running into a BOOT by Omega - not falling for it a third time, though, blocking the boots and snapping off an elbow. Whip into the opposite corner is reversed - Omega is fired up, and there's his wacky jumpin' elbow! But THAT advantage lasts even less as Hero follows Omega on the whip attempt and collides with him at the ropes with yet ANOTHER big elbow. Let's take a quick moment to acknowledge that for the first time in a few weeks, the UPCOMING LIVE RING OF HONOR DATES graphic actually lists shows that take place in the future - May 8 Boston, MA and May 9 Edison, NJ ("Log on to rohwrestling.com for ticket info!") Both men meet in the middle - for some reason Hero just kinda STOPS so Omega can fire himself up and connect with an enzuigiri. Omega with a DRAGON SUPLEX (!!) - 1, 2, no! Omega wanting to finish him - has him on his shoudlers for the Electric Chair - but lets him go when Sarah hops onto the apron. Omega doing some pelvic activity - that's a bad idea - oh oh, the noticably electric green elbow pad is on - Omega sent into the ropes, ROLLING ELBOW - 1, 2, 3! (4:49) Replay confirms the elbowpad was indeed on...and quickly off after the count. Might have been better to have a replay of Hagadorn passing him the pad, otherwise we're left to wonder: just who the hell is Shane Hagadorn and what the hell was he doing coming out to ringside?

Back we go to Reporter KYLE DURDEN, who stands with the "Messiah of the backbreaker," RODERICK STRONG. He's just back from a tour in Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH, you know! "Well, the first thing I have to say, Kyle, is it feels great - it feels great to be right here on HDNet, but tonight - tonight's not about me...tonight's about what you've been saying about me, Austin Aries, and you know what? Some of it may be true. You know, we did have a big brother/little brother relationship - I did kinda look up to you. You are a little bit older - I'm not sure about wiser - but the thing, Austin - the thing that mattered the most is that I respected you, and there was something missing there, Austin, and one day I figured that out - is you don't respect anybody but yourself. So tonight, Austin - tonight's not only about beating you...tonight's about making you respect me."

What's this? Let Us Take You Back to TWO WEEKS AGO and clips of Brodie Lee interrupting in Necro Butcher's match with Jimmy Jacobs - believe it or not, we're going to show some angle/storyline progression on this show and follow it up with this upcoming match!

BRODIE LEE (with Jimmy Jacobs - Lincoln, NE - 275 pounds - representing The Age of The Fall) vs. "THE" NECRO BUTCHER (250 pounds)
Referee: PAUL TURNER
Time limit: 15 minutes

SMACKTALK: "Necro Butcher...tonight we fight. Tonight, I punch you in the face. Tonight, I kick you in the face. Not one wrestling hold, Necro, not ONE. I'll see ya out there."

SMACKTALK: "Big Brodie Lee, six foot ten, you've been chasin' me all over the country, fightin' battles for Jimmy Jacobs, costin' me title matches in Canada, injuring me out in Jersey, but tonight, we're bringin' the fight to everybody's living room out there in HDNet. Y'ain't gonna see no wrestling holds, not nary a one, just punchin' and kickin' - Brodie Lee... it's on, son."

Necro has a STEEL chair in hand, headbutting it for effect. Lee and Jacobs stand in council outside the ring, opting to wait and see if Turner can successfully separate Necro from the chair. Crowd chanting "Ne-cro-butch-er" and clapping. I dunno, when both guys have already promised we'll see ZERO wrestling holds - well, it makes my job easier but it also kinda lowers my expectations. Butcher tired of waiting - from the apron to the floor with a front flip that takes Lee DOWN! Hoge has never seen such a thing - "THE MATCH HASN'T EVEN STARTED YET!" - but maybe he'll get used to pro wrestling some day. Butcher takes a chair from the crowd and throws it at Lee - then catches it on the rebound. Necktie for Lee of the chair - INTO the post! Now chasing after Jacobs with the chair - Butcher isn't exactly mobile - they're about done with a full lap and Lee is poised, but the clothesline is ducked - Butcher throws the chair and AGAIN connects with Lee's body - chop, run into the barricade, chop - at this point I notice that the crowd audio seems about five seconds ahead of what you and I are seeing as well as what Hogewood and Prazak are talking about, which makes things a little difficult to watch. (So much for the fixed audio problems?) ANYWAY. They're up the aisle and before Butcher can use another chair, Jacobs is attacking from behind to little effect, but it DOES get Buther distracted - Lee lands a right. They're up the ramp, crowd says OHHHH, and Lee manages the sidewalk slam at the top of the ramp onto the STEEL. Well, something interesting will happen soon - Lee grabs Butcher in a fireman's carry and they're heading to the ring - I hear the bell - ah, there's Turner calling for the bell. Seriously, WTF. Cover by Lee - 1, 2, no. To further add to the amusement, check out THIS graphic: "Follow RING of HONOR on TWITTER - Twitter.com/ROHonHDNET - hoo, boy. Y'know, they'll let ANYBODY on Twitter. European uppercut by Lee - hey, that approaches a wrestling hold! Choke on the second rope. While Lee discusses the finer points of the rules with Turner, Jacobs takes HIS chance for a right hand from the floor. Lee back to Butcher, standing on him while he's over the rope. More words for Turner. Butcher swings and misses, Lee rakes the face. Lee with a few shoves for the official - how dishonorable™! Euro uppercut by Lee. Forearm in the back. Whip into the corner. Lee runs - but Butcher sidesteps the running big boot and Lee ends up straddling the top rope! Butcher catching fire with his right/chop/repeat combo. For some reason, we transition to a split screen where the action takes place in a very tiny window while, in a much LARGER window, we see Jimmy Jacobs engaging in histrionics. Again, this looks more like somebody having some fun with their video box and the HD screen than actually *presenting* us with something - our director really needs to get stuff like this out of his system. A zillion chops and punches later, bulldog is shaken off and THIS time Lee connects with the Big Boot. Off the ropes, ANOTHER big boot, but we have already heard that this one's a 2 count from our Future Audio. Jacobs up on the apron - Butcher up in a Fireman's Carry - Butcher getting free, pushing Lee (we hear the bell) into Jacobs, backs into a rollup off the bounce, 1, 2, 3! (2:00 between bells... I think) Lee tries to run up on him, but ends up backdropped over the rope to the floor. Jacobs throws a chair into the ring - Butcher catches it and takes a seat. Daring them to come in - Jacobs and Lee demur. Well...at least this replay has correctly synced audio. Butcher slapping hands with the fans. I believe there were zero handshakes during this match.

BUZZ WORDS: Erick Stevens gives us the same buzzwords he gave us in Show #5 - and also says "Choo Choo!"

UP NEXT! "RUNAWAY TRAIN ERICK STEVENS!" Looks like this upcoming match clip ends JUST before the finishing move - not to spoilerize you or anything

It's time for our AD BREAK! Including...

COMING UP NEXT: HDNet Fights Presents: World Victory Road: Sengoku 8-Featherweight GP 2009 2nd Round! (got all that?)

Another "HDNet Fights" spot - HDNet is YOUR Home for MMA!

You don't like him - and he don't like you! It's "Double A" Austin Aries! Wait, I thought it was "A Double?" Anyway, ROH is on next Saturday at 8PM Eastern! Just like EVERY Saturday!

ROHWrestling.com spot

EARLIER TONIGHT: If you weren't here at the top of the hour, you missed this guy Flair, this man Lynn and that man Aries! Aries is in the main event coming up later - and if you don't believe me, here's a graphic!

TONIGHT'S MAIN EVENT: Roderick Strong takes on Austin Aries

ERICK STEVENS (Sarasota, FL - 248 pounds) vs. SAL RINAURO (already in the ring - Hollywood, Salifornia - 188 pounds)
Referee: Sinclair
Time limit: 15 minutes

"Commentators" graphic - I guess the extra mention means we're spared having to LOOK at 'im this week. I can take it. Even Hogewood can figure out it will be a huge, huge upset for the man Ready for Action to manage a victory over the guy whose Buzz Words we had to watch again. Looking for that Handshake of Honor™...was Stevens a Boy Scout? Because he's offering his LEFT hand. Sal takes it, and tags Stevens with a right for good measure. That's not very honorable™! Stevens seems perturbed - Rinauro ducks the punch, but is caught off the ropes, placed on the shoulder and powerslammed down. German suplex with a release. CHOO CHOO connects. LARIATOOOOOOOOO is where we faded to black before the ad break. Gut wrench - doctorbomb ISIIIIIIIIIIIIT - 1, 2, 3! Hogewood says to "slap the porpoise - this one is over." (0:43) Replays take ALMOST as long as the match itself.

...slap...the porpoise?

Let Us Take You Back to Last Week where nothing was settled as Tyler Black and Bryan Danielson battled to a twenty minute draw.

NEXT WEEK! It's a "Top Contenders Match" between these same two men - will we get a winner? Also...how much are we loving all this story building?

NEXT WEEK! Former Champion Nigel McGuinness will be in the building and likely he'll have something to say!

Time now for the ROH Wrestling on HDNet TALE OF THE TAPE:

       RODERICK STRONG AUSTIN ARIES
215 lbs. WEIGHT 205 lbs.
2000 PRO DEBUT 2000
3/13/04 "Do or Die II" ROH DEBUT 3/13/04 "Do or Die II"
Tampa, FL FROM Milwaukee, WI
YOUR MAIN EVENT
AUSTIN ARIES (Milwaukee, WI - 205 pounds - with EARLIER TONIGHT) v. RODERICK STRONG (Tampa, FL - 215 pounds)

Referee: Turner
Time limit: Television time remaining (it's about 33 minutes after the hour)

Aries decides to take a powder which gives the commentators another chance to bring up Strong's recent tour of Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH. Turner calling for the handshake of honor™ and we finally do get one, although we catch a look on Aries' mug that suggests he's not entirely forthright in his handshake. LET'S GO! With so much time left, we'll probably have some dancing first - lockup, to the rope, Aries with a clean break and wants everyone to know it. Waistlock and takedown by Aries - lets him up. Face to face - Aries deliberately backs off. We go again - side headlock by Aries - Strong looking to counter...but Aries holds it on. Strong looking for some leverage, but Aries steps into an arm wringer - Strong cartwheels to relieve the pressure and applies an arm wringer of his own. Prazak saying something about Samoa Joe - oh, Aries beat him for the title in 2004 - wait, he DEBUTED in 2004, is that right? Maybe I'll research it later. Nah, I don't care. Aries rolls forward, kips up, arm wringer on Strong, fireman's carry takeover very quickly, steps over into a legdrop on the arm, and back rolls to his feet. Very impressive! Strong isn't as impressed. ROHWrestling.com popup. Let's do it again! This time it's Strong with the side headlock - wrenching it in now - to the ropes, Aries powers out but eats the shoulder. Here he goes - Strong up and over, leapfrog by Aries, Japanese armdrag by Aries, MEXICAN armdrag by Aries, wants the armbar but Strong counters with a headscissors, Aries standing on his HEAD to get out of that, DROPKICKS the seated Strong! These guys can be fast when they want. Strong's in the corner, and Aries gives him a bionic elbow. There's another one. Big slap on the chest - I think he raised his ire - Strong running at Aries, but Aries drops down and heads outside. After a suitable delay, Aries is back in - and offering a hand of friendship, ha ha ha. Before Strong can stupidly take it, Aries winds up with his LEFT hand and slaps Strong's chest again! Aries even takes a bow for good measure. Strong thinking entirely too long about how to respond to this - finally he swings but Aries ducks - Strong actually falls over from his own momentum but is back up in time to eat Aries' elbow - Aries running the ropes, ducks Strong's backhand, and slides out of the ring one more time, taking a lap at ringside! Strong has had enouhg on the apron - running clothesline to the floor! Strong is going to work him on the outside - whip into the barricade, Aries doing a front flip before landing for good measure. Knife-edge chop...is ducked AGAIN by Aries - I think this is the third time Strong has failed to connect with that one, so maybe it's becoming a storyline element. What's the count at this point, anyway? Moot point as Aries is in and out. Strong catches up and runs his back into the barricade. Chop...is ducked AGAIN. Forearm across the back by Strong. Aries rolled back in - Strong in at I think 7. Strong with "Iblockyourpunchyoudon'tblockmyelbow," Aries dropkicks the shins and Strong tumbles off the apron to the floor AGAIN. I think he might fly here - climbing up to the top buckle - off the top to the floor with the double axehandle! Aries feeling good - Strong put back into the ring, but his head is draped off the apron - running knee to the temple by Aries! 1... is it. Double Feature of what we just saw. Strong buries his head into the gut, lands a forearm, FINALLY connects with a big chop and Aries staggers back to let the ropes catch him. Commentators miss it, of course. And still...Aries manages to pull Strong through the ropes to the floor and into the barricade. Aries out after him - hard run into the barricade. Everybody back in - Aries stands on the chest for 2. Aries setting up his own wacky elbowdrop - and hits it. 1, 2, Strong kicks out. Aries kissing his knuckle - but Strong with a kick before he can use the fist - kick - kick - camera angle misses how Aries takes control (kneelift?) but he's got him now - whip into the opposite corner but Strong stoops himself - back kick to the charging Aries - springs off the second rope with a crossbody for 2! Aries quickly with a double sledge to stop the momentum. Raking his face along the top rope. Left in the gut. Whip out of the corner - boot up on the charge is caught, but Strong manages an enzuigiri out of that! Each man dazed in an opposite corner - crowd tries to fire up. CHOP! by Strong - CHOP! CHOP! "Upcoming Live Ring of Honor Dates" graphic makes a second appearance. Strong ...eats a knee in the gut. Y'know, Aries comes back WAY too soon. Whip is reversed, Strong connects with a big dropkick! Leg is hooked - 1, 2, no! Strong trying to stay on him - CHOP! in the corner. CHOP! Aries trying to get away - but crowd chants "One more time!" so Strong CHOPS him again! Aries clinging to the bottom rope - Strong bringing him up - whip into the opposite corner - running clothesline, off the ropes with ANOTHER running clothesline, got him up, backbreaker down - 1, 2, no! Fireman's carry up, Aries out, reversed, Aries runs forward taking Strong through the ropes to the floor. Aries running the ropes - TOPE! Both men take a breath on the outside. Aries up first - Strong back in - Aries on the apron - back in with a corkscrew splash (!) - 1, 2, NO! Replay of the tope from another angle - the "heat seeking missile" - and the twisting body press. Interestingly, THESE replays took up the entire screen so we don't exactly know if there was anything edited out by the time we come back to "live" action. Anyway, nobody's moving much when we come back - Strong to his feet first - half nelson into a backbreaker (!) - 1, 2, Aries on the bottom rope to break it up. Strong kicks him - CHOP! in the corner. Prazak says that Strong uses these backbreakers to set up the Boston Crab or his own variation called the Strong hold - will we see them soon? Well...I still think Aries is winning tonight. Charge into the corner is met with an elbow by Aries, and yet Strong STILL manages an enzuigiri to timberrrrrr him down. Leg is hooked - 1, 2, no! Strong firing himself up for a big boot, but Aries sidesteps it, catches Strong on the rebound with a rollup, but instead of covering, grabs a facelock and REPEATEDLY knees him in the head! Three knees, and now up and OVER with his own legs while maintaining the facelock and that's the LAST CHANCERY! Will Strong tap? That looks VERY painful! Fott on the bottom rope! Hold is broken but not Aries' momentum - Elbow, elbow, elbow, elbow, BITING his face, is that snot? Ewww...Aries ready to finish him - running at Strong but CAUGHT in a fireman's carry - dropped into a GUTBUSTER - running off the ropes with a GIANT one-leg dropkick - and into the BOSTON CRAB!! Aries is thrashing wildly, but not tapping (yet) - HE grabs the bottom rope. Strong pulling him off - wants to turn him over again but Aries is clutching Strong's shin. Shot by Strong. Kicking theback. Aries AGAIN grabs the bottom rope - Strong kicks his back...but does break the hold. But goes right back to his legs and tries to turn him over into the crab - THIS time, Aries uses his legs to pull Strong through the ropes to the floor one more time! Strong on the apron to come back in - but takes a dropkick for his troubles. Aries looking to build on it - facelock - brainbuster attempt coming up - fought off by Strong - HE wants the crab - AND GETS IT! Aries quickly crawls...and DOES reach the bottom rope one more time. Aries isn't getting up. Strong pulls him up. Aries is dead weight - Prazak says he's going for a Gibson driver - double underhook, brought up, but instead of powerbombing Aries down, Aries counters into a head scissors takeover! Aries with a BIG left hand that KOs Strong. Aries taking too long to recover...grabs the legs - HE wants a Boston Crab on STRONG! Strong counters by grabbing Aries' legs and rolling him up - 1, 2, no! BIG KICK TO THE HEAD BY ARIES and I think that'll do it. Brainbuster coming up - no, Strong fights it off - three rights in the gut by Aries - gets him up - BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAAAA finds the mark - and he ain't gettin' up from that. 1, 2, 3. (15:14) Let's check the replay - brainbuster, no, right, right, right, brainbuster YES, 1, 2, 3. "For music information log on to ROHWrestling.com" Has ANYBODY found ANY music information on that website yet? I'm begging you, PLEASE tell me where it is. "Copyright 2009 Ring of Honor Wrestling, Inc." means we're just about done.

TOP CONTENDERS' MATCH - NEXT WEEK! Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black!

Hey, here's Danielson now: "You know...I feel very fortunate that the ROH Booking Committee is giving me this opportunity - an opportunity for me to prove that I'm the top contender for the Ring of Honor World title. I also feel very fortunate that this opportunity comes in the form of wrestling Tyler Black. Tyler, you're very athletic, you're very strong, and some day I'm sure you're gonna be better than me. But that day is not today. *I* am gonna be the top contender for the Ring of Honor World title, and prove to everybody in the entire world who the best really is."

AND here's Black! "So with Jerry Lynn we have a new World Champion, and that means it's time to establish a new pecking order in Ring of Honor. Next week, I find myself opposed with Bryan Danielson once again to establish who truly is the top contender for Jerry Lynn's World title. Bryan...I know you better than anyone. And I know you're gonna come prepared. Mark my words, Bryan, in this life we make our own destinies - and I've decided that mine is to get through you... and become the next Ring of Honor World Champion."

"You've been watching a special presentation of Ring of Honor wrestling on HDNet!"

Catch ROH in Boston 5/8 (Case Gym at BU, 8PM bell time) and 5/9 in the Inman Sports Club in Edison, NJ (7:30PM bell time)! Jerry Lynn, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black and many more are scheduled to appear at both events! For more information or to purchase tickets, go visit that website everyone's talking about (how crappy it is)!

NEXT ON HDNET: We already told you! It's "HDNet Fights Presents: World Victory Road: Sengoku 8-Featherweight GP 2009 2nd Round!"

Ignoring that crazy audio from the second match, this show was about A HUNDRED times better than what we were getting from the first set of tapings. There may be some hope yet!

Perhaps they updated the website after you wrote this, but it appears in order to reach the music information, you need to click the Multimedia tab on the top, followed by the ROH Music tab on the left. This takes you to http://www.rohwrestling.com/multimedia/music.aspx , which gives a list of everyone's entrance themes.

Thanks. I was probably too lazy to try to navigate the most counter-intuitive interface I've ever seen. (I only find the Roster page because I have it cached, but now I see it's in the same general place.)

I must have been pretty tired last night because AGAIN I forgot to link you to DEAN's Workrate Report, so I'll do that now. It's here: http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=48552

I'm thinking that if I ever hire a wrestling legend to be the new ambassador for my promotion, I'm going to suggest that he NOT say that's he's never seen one of my top stars and former champions in action. I'm just sayin'.

If I correct you and point out it's tope con giro and not hilo, can you explain to me the difference between Mexican and Japanese armdrags?

Is Flair the ambassador of ROH, or TO ROH? I guess it might make sense for him to know know much if it's To, but then it makes me wonder where he might be from.

Both men meet in the middle - for some reason Hero just kinda STOPS so Omega can fire himself up and connect with an enzuigiri.

Isn't Kenny's cute little thing to yell STOP~! to magically freeze the other guy?

You surely worded this just perfectly enough to sucker me in and reply despite the fact that you probably already knew this fact...

I'll always spell it wrong.

Also, I use Mexican and Japanese interchangably because I honestly can't remember which is which so I take a guess every time.

One is close to Steamboat-style, where the guy doing the armdrag leaves his feet and kinda twists while taking the victim up and over his own body (I think that's Mexican), while the other involves the attacker doing a standing backflip (or just falling backwards if he's lazy) alongside the victim simultaneously with him begin taken over (I think that's Japanese). Those descriptions aren't so descriptive but I know 'em when I see 'em. It's like... X axis vs. Z axis? Mexican is more pulling and Japanese is more flipping? Prazak has called each of them in the past (but didn't during this show), go ask him. ;-)

Space Mountain?

I'm trying to be very accurate on those transcripts, but only because I don't think anybody else is doin' 'em at the moment. I'm just hoping somebody told him to stop putting a THE in front of "Ring of Honor."

I'm totally ignorant about this product. Unfortunately, the camera angle during this bit gave me a great view of Hero's back and nothing else, so what you're saying may have happened, only I didn't see it and the commentary team didn't discuss it.

And if he's ambassador OF Ring of Honor, where does he go? How often is a US ambassador actually in Washington?

I was wondering when you'd finally mention this, I noticed it on the 3rd episode, and was instantly waiting for it to be mocked in recap form...I thought he had given it up, but apparently I was mistaken.
