Guess all that talk about Ricky being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006 was a bit premature:

Made everything from toy guns that spark to flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark

You KNOW that Rickey wants to enter the HOF all alone...plus he helps the Red Sox push even closer to the over 30 years old average line that the Devil Rays put up last year, between Carlos Baerga and Rickey...thats like 100 years right there :P

Hah! As I said in a previous thread I never believed for a second Rickey would retire.

The guy is NEVER going to go away! I wouldn't be surprised if I saw him play until he's 50, just to make sure his records never get touched if nothing else.

I find it difficult to believe that Rickey can really accept being a back-up to Manny Ramirez and a part-time DH.

But, Rickey be Rickey.

Damn. For purely selfish reasons, I was hoping that I had seen (all in one game): Gwynn's last game, Rickey get 3000, Rickey's last game.

I'll settle for 2 out of 3.

I'm still pissed that ESPN didn't show Tony's last game, as they would have done, had the season ended on its original date.

But NO! We got some stupid counter-NFL programming.

Of course, we still got to see Almighty Cal's last game (which was on FX nationally, but I saw it locally on Comcast Baltimore).

Rickey`s been a 4th outfielder for the past year or two, hasn`t he? I hope he ends up like Minnie Minoso and plays in five decades.

I don't know what's more amazing that there's still a place in baseball for him or he's kept himself in good enough shape to perform at a major league level.

i like the fact that he's playing... he's a good player... and if he still has something to contribute to the game then cool... good for him.. and good for baseball...

It's just that his style was more suited to Japan. Hell they have a bar named after him over there. The biggest problem is the culture. Winning is a culture ans so is losing.
