Naitch was future endeavored on May 11th according to this PWInsider report. (pwinsider.com) The date is a source of dispute in the WWE vs. TNA lawsuit.

I guess I mustn't get my hopes up Ric will be replacing John Laurinaitis or making some sort of appearance by or on #RAW1000, but it's possible?

TNA asked for a restraining order on WWE prohibiting them from signing anyone from TNA. WWE told the court they had no interest in anyone in TNA, so there was no restraining order. If WWE signs Flair right now, they would be liars in the eyes of the court and that would not help this case.

Ric is stuck promising (and backing out of) indy show appearances for the time being.

Yeah, but when they said there was no interest in anyone within TNA, was Flair still an employee there? If not, they can sign him.

I think the WWE is more concerned with the appearance of not wanting anyone from TNA than the actual legal term of say "well Flair quit the day before we said that, so no takies backsies."

That said, it's McMahon, and he certainly hasn't cared about saying one thing while doing whatever he felt like later, expecting the lawyers to clean everything up for him.

RAW 1000 is just over 30 days away (and well over 60 from 5/11) so I can't believe Flair won't be appearing on it.

Maybe he can join Slaughter, Dusty, Snuka, AA, Roddy and Hacksaw for the obligatory "WWE legends get disrespected by some young dude" segment?

Flair really needs to pull it together when he's on television though. I don't know if he can do the coolest guy in the room deal anymore, but he has to at least channel Bobby Heenan and seem like the shrewdest. I can't handle watching much more of the Ric Flair acting like a batshit crazy old man stuff.

He also wasn't all that great of a GM, but most people aren't that's why it makes sense for the Johnny Ace's, Teddy Long's and laptop computers of the world to play that part.

Flair playing Heenan to Dolph's Hening is what I'd really like to see.

Do you have a source for that? I'm shocked a court would take "We promise not to do that" instead of issuing a restraining order.

It was brought up in this week's Observer, which turns out to be more specific in this case than I remembered. Bold mine.

Flair is apparently no longer under a TNA contract, as he hasn’t been paid by TNA on his contract. Flair quit he promotion on around 5/9 and stopped showing up to events, and after quitting, had his contract terminated by the company before they even filed the lawsuit according to the WWE side. McDevitt said WWE has not and will not use any of the information provided by Wittenstein, who WWE fired in late April after they claim he offered them the confidential information he got from working in TNA. McDevitt also said that the only copy of the information that WWE had has already been returned to TNA. The TNA lawsuit against WWE looks like it will have one temporary effect, which is that talent WWE may have been interested in from TNA will not get offers. McDevitt filed legal papers which stated that WWE has not attempted to get Flair to leave TNA and join WWE, nor have they made any contract offer to Flair, nor do they have any intention of doing so. He also wrote that WWE has no interest in any TNA talent, and thus no restraining order is appropriate. . It should be noted that Alex Shelley’s contract had already expired and he’s a free agent, so technically, he is not TNA talent, but this still could affect decisions made by WWE on hiring him just because the suit is still ongoing, and could also affect hiring Flair as long as the lawsuit is alive since Flair is the one specifically named in the suit. If there would have been interest in Matt Morgan, whose contract was coming due and has openly said he wanted to stay in TNA but would listen to a WWE offer and that he’s gotten word they are interested, well, it may be bad timing for him.

That ends saying WWE was trying to prevent the restraining order, though Meltzer did say it was on last night's audio show. Either way, Flair being specifically named in the lawsuit means WWE probably shouldn't touch him until this is settled.

re: Cubs...thanks for pulling that up and posting

Per Meltzer's audio, Jerry M. got the restraining order thrown out. Which, really, all that means is that WWE looks like shit to a couple judges if they bring in Flair, et al.

Which is better than being a publicly traded company *with* a restraining order against the only real competition that is keeping WWE from Monopoly court

Yeah, the end of his TNA run was just brutal. I honestly wish Flair had the means to retire with a semblance of his dignity intact, but it doesn't look like that's meant to be.

Hell, I wish Flair would take that recurring guest spot on The Cleveland Show. It's gotta be better than desperately hanging on like this.
