| #1 Posted on 2.3.06 1607.57 | Instant Rating: 2.04 | I have two separate bones to pick with RF.
1#) The people they pick to conduct the shoot interviews are simply not good at it. They stick to their script of questions and rarely, if ever ask follow-up questions, even when they are very obvious. I don’t have these instances chronicled, but if you’ve watched a few of these, you’d probably agree with me. On a seperate, but related note, the interviewer asked Earl Hebner about the time “Sid doubled crossed Hogan at Wrestlemania by kicking out of the leg drop.” Earl sat there dumbfounded, he had no idea what the interviewer was talking about. Sid had to kick out because Pappa Shango missed his run-in. I am a mark and I know that.
Also, there are usually at least two very unprofessional distractions during the interviews. Last night (I mention the Hebner interview bc I’ve been watching it), Earl Hebner was getting into a very interesting topic when someone’s cell phone went off. Most of the time, there is a phone that rings in the background intermittently. I even heard someone knock and come in like they didn’t know the camera was rolling.
#2) My other beef is the customer service…I ordered the Funk shoot, which was supposed to be two VHS tapes, but only got one. I emailed them and ‘yeah yeah, its on its way’, well that was months ago.
Also, my last order was the first time I got DVDs and they all skip, even after using a lens cleaner. AND the Tommy Young interview cuts off after 45 mins. ------------------- I emailed them today, didn’t get a reply yet, which is ok…but I am not sure if I am gonna get one. Maybe someone who knows them will look at this post and say something.

I absolutely agree with this, and it is to the detriment of a lot of their interviews. Two examples from memory that have annoyed me (I haven't actually seen all that many shoots):
1) The Abdullah the Butcher shoot.
Firstly, they allow him to totally kayfabe them throughout the interview, and don't take him to task about anything, resolutely going through their list of questions one by one:
Interviewer: What were your memories of wrestling in the xxx territory?
Abdullah: Well, they learned the hard way, that there is not one man alive who could pin Abdullah the Butcher!!
Interviewer: From there, you moved to WCW. What were your thoughts about that time in your career.
Abdullah: I haven't been pinned in 30 years, and noone in WCW was able to do that!
Secondly, the questions are just totally meaningless considering the guy's legitimately storied career:
Interviewer: So, on August 13th 1996, you wrestled Indy Darling #36. What was it like working with him?
Abdullah: Who?
2) The Vader shoot.
Vader lies to them, and they know it. What makes it so frustrating, is that they would rather look like they haven't done any research (as that wouldn't be 'cool') so they pretend to forget what they are talking about, and buy Vader's cock-and-bull story. I mean seriously, how hard is it to find the results from an In Your House Event?
Vader and Kane had a mask v mask match at WWF Over the Edge. After the match, Vader said, "I made the biggest mistake of my life. Maybe Vader time is over. I'm a piece of shit... A big fat piece of shit."
When they asked Vader about it, he couldn't remember about it (surprisingly).
Vader: When was that?
Interviewers: Um, some PPV - there's so many nowadays, lol!
Vader: Um, I think what happened, was I said something like, man that guy was the shits! I think it just got misquoted on the internet or something.
Interviewers: Um, yeah, ok... On July 11th 1998, you wrestled Indy Superstar....

| #3 Posted on 4.3.06 2209.56 | Instant Rating: 6.50 | You might want to try "Ultimate Insiders" as an alternative. Those are the ones Wade Keller did with Big Vision Entertainment.
There are only two series of shoot DVD's that I know of so far (Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara, and The Hardy Boyz), but both of them are fantastic, and a complete contrast to everything RF Video does.
Firstly, Wade has tons of decent questions with very few "softballs". Plus, he's not above arguing a point, or even getting someone to elaborate on what they meant if they say something surprising. I think it comes down to actual journalism skills, versus someone just reading off a list of prepared questions.
Plus, its very professional. No phones ringing in the background, multiple camera angles, graphics at the bottom of the screen that explain insider terms, historical incidents, etc. A newer fan today may not have known about, say, Jeff Hardy's departure from WWE, or the Bash at the Beach shoot by Russo. So in that sense, its a nice touch.
I'm sure these ones are far more expensive to put together, and thus there probably won't be as wide a variety of them out there, but I'd definitely recommend giving one or both of the Ultimate Insiders DVD's a go.

You mean you have a problem with the tapes being cheaply made by non-professional people and you have a problem with them obviously not giving a shit after already geting your money, but you DON'T have a problem with putting money in a known child molester's pockets?

Strange.
Assuming you're referring to Rob Feinstein, it's coming on two years since he's been involved in the company (if they are to be believed). Also, "known" child molesters usually serve jail time, so maybe "accused" or "alleged" would have been a more accurate choice of words.

Apparently, he allegedly thought he was talking to a teenager, but he was actually talking to adults. Does it make it right? Nope - but it doesn't make it child molesting. As far as I know, he never harmed an actual child.
Of course there could be other allegations that I'm not aware of.

A) I thought once he got busted ("lol ill pretend u said 18" still cracks me up), he gave up his share of ROH but kept RF Video, did I remember that wrong?
B) Yeah, what ever happened with that? Did the police ever press charges or what? After the video came out on the internet (and on TV in his hometown) and all of the ROH wrestlers demanding he resign, I dont remember hearing anything else about him/the incident after that.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week. "Because personally if I was being choked by Ric Flair, my personal reaction would be well, "Glrrrrkkk, can't breathe" but after that... "Man, I'm being choked out by Ric Flair, this is so cool." and then some more "Gllllrrrrk, can't breathe."" (Llakor)

Part A: I think I remember him pulling out of RF Video at some point after getting busted, but not immediately (as he did with ROH).
I've been wondering about what else happened too. It's been two years, so you think that if anything came of it, we'd know.

Besides, I thought the Hebners would have something interesting to say. Boy was I surprised that they are a couple of southern-fried rubes.
