This actually surprised me. I was sure that if had to choose one or the other Kimmel would win. Or maybe I just thought the pay was better would be better working for Kimmel. But maybe not. Either way Im glad, When hes on I dont think their is anyone funnier. I wonder if hes going back to Boston.

From what I've heard, working for TV isn't the most lucrative deal about town unless you're one of the honchos or "names." From a completely selfish standpoint I'm also thrilled he's gonna be giving 100% to the funny and the ha-ha. Good times are ahead. | Packman V2

He did have quite a lively exchange with Ralph Wiley the other day on the NBA, the Sopranos, TV shows and Hotties.

*I*, on the other hand, don't think I've ever read a column of his that didn't make me laugh out loud at least once, and I am very excited that he'll be doing more columns again. His back-and-forth with Wiley (who is also excellent) was GREAT and I'd love to see tham do that on a regular basis.

I agree, Wiley's pretty dope as well, though for different reasons. Their little back and forth yesterday was impressive. Simmons occassionally mentions how his writing suffers when he can't spend good time on it, but considering he and Wiley were posting only an hour after each other, on topics they only just found out after reading each others' latest entry, they didn't seem too affected.

I think he's mentioned in the past that there's a reason you don't see him on-air. While it might be interesting, some guys are just better on paper, and I don't think he'd live up to the status many of us have for him. I'd just be happy with three columns/week. Hell, two would work for me after suffering through this recent drought where we'd maybe get ONE (brief) ESPN Mag column a week. The horror!! |
