Looks like if this is a confirmed, LA Tech will need a new coach.

Is this confirmed like the last two guys? Or for real this time?

And if it's true, what a terrible, terrible hire for head coach. I realize their options were getting limited, but wow.

So a guy with three years experience, a 17-20 record, coming off a 4-8 season at a mid major was the best they could do?

I realize he worked with Saban some, but really?

Can't be any worse from what Auburn hired last season and they won a new year's bowl game.

Gene Chizik was a great hire by my Auburn Tigers. I realize that he wasn't the sexiest candidate because of his record at Iowa State, but he is the right guy for the job. He was our defensive coordinator when we got screwed out of the national title, and the next year he was winning the national title at Texas,in the same capacity. My point is that the man knows what he's doing, and to be honest we've been kinda spoiled by Tuberville. These past couple of years our offense hasn't been anything to write home about, but we always played the good teams really well and we beat Alabama more than we didn't.

All this college football talk makes me wish the season was fixing' to begin again. =)

True.

The unfounded rumor of the day is that UT was turned down by so many because they are going to get nailed by the NCAA as well. Not sure I buy that one, but then again Kiffin was pretty slimy.

Also the Tennessee AD is forcing at least four staff members on the new coach. Doesn't want to have to buy out more contracts. Now I'd believe THAT might have been a deciding factor for some guys. You'd have to believe Dooley really wants his shot to coach a team in the SEC to put up with that crap.

They really didn't have many options. Cutcliffe was the other main candidate, and while the man has done an admirable job at Dook, he wouldn't have been a 'sexy' candidate either. Sumlin was a pipe dream at best and has no ties to the area. It's not like Dooley is replacing Vince Lombardi, either. I seriously doubt they fall below 7-6 next year.

I might as well coach the team, at least I know not to send whores out to recruit high school kids. It would be funny if the NCAA came down harder on USC then Tennessee, but fate and NCAA are not that kind.

Damn, the Gators suck. I don't know what made the Seminoles defense turn it on tonight, but they dominated the Gators. Of course Grossman has been forced out of the pocket all year, so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised. Anyway, I don't care much now.
