If you signed up for the 20-team The-W.Com Fantasy Football League, the draft is Monday at 8:00 Central. Hopefully you set a reminder for yourself anyway, but I'm sure some people didn't. And some people won't read this until after the fact.
I can't speak for the other members, but to me there's nothing more annoying than people that sign up for their league, miss the draft, and then don't set their lineups. Don't be one of those people.
If someone wants to join the league and can't presently, because it's full let me know and I'll gladly back out. (There's another league I want to join, and I only want to be in four leagues, but I don't want to screw over this league by postponing the draft.)
Either IM or PM will work fine.
They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck.
Originally posted by cranlsnYeah...that was me last year. I had no concept of what "live draft" meant (it would seem pretty simple no?).
I had ranked my players, but I ranked all the QB's, then all the receivers, etc...on down the line. Which is how I ended up with I think 3 mediocre QB's, 4 mediocre receivers, and absolutely NO RB's.
I mixed it up a little this year!
But...I am really going to be scrambling to actually BE there this time.
...dammit...I think I did OK even without being there. Sorry.
We had a mini-golf tournament scheduled and I didn't want to disappoint the kids...so I got to mini-golf...in the rain. It was either that or sacrifice the money that we paid to be in...I would have much rather been at the draft.
For a 20 team league, I am almost giddy with my lineup. I am super-stacked at WR with Moss and Chad Johnson, and Coles as the W/R. Plus, with Greg Jones out for Jacksonville, I'm suddenly not upset with Fred Taylor as my lead runner. Drew Bledsoe did well for me in one of my W leagues last year, so it might work.
You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.
"They're plump, ripe, and priced to move. Get your fat Samoan today!" (Packman V2)
Hope that some of my sleepers (Duckett, Burleson, Crayton) pan out, but yeah, I'm quite pleased with who I have. Except for the whole Jerry Porter debacle, but I still got my pick, and you could do worse for your third WR.
Although I'm sad to say the Taco Wallace Era is over before it began.
I'm pretty ok with my line up. Anthony Thomas and Tony Richardson are "Well...maaaaaybe" picks. Rackers should get me some points though. Big Ben isn't really in what you might call a good "fantasy offense" but I think he can put up enough points to justify taking him where I did.
Also, barring injuries, I've got all my byes covered this year, so good on me for that.
Tonight I wanna ruin my life, I wanna throw it all away, In a spectacular way
Here are some more thoughts from a demented mind in Central Florida: All things considered, I'm quite happy with who I landed at RB:
Starters: Rudi Johnson and Warrick Dunn. Backups: Jerious Norwood, Brandon Jacobs, Maurice Jones-Drew (for the inevitable Fred Taylor breakdown)
My QBs are distinctly eh: Trent Green and Byron Leftwich. Considering that it's a 20-team league, I'm just glad to have two QBs who are definite starters for their respective teams.
WRs: Clearly a crapshoot here. Eddie Kennison and Ernest Wilford don't exactly strike fear in the hearts of opposing teams (not yet, anyway). Kevin Curtis as backup should eventually overtake Isaac Bruce for the #2 WR for the Rams. Corey Bradford and Cedrick Wilson - hey, what do you want from me? NFL.com said they were starting at WR for their teams!
TE, K, DT: crap. But you don't necessarily win with those.
Good luck to this year's league!
Why yes, I am both a musician and a lawyer. Thanks for asking. :)
You know, I actually thought about mentioning arena football, the CFL, and other minor/not-NFL leagues like that, but you just don't hear too many stories about players who successfully made the transition.
