Going over to IMDB.com for info on it, the remake is scheduled to be in theaters next year and it will also star Chris Rock and Snoop Dog.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. The original is definitely my favorite football movie ever, and while I do like Sandler if this remake is anything like "The Waterboy" I'll be extremely pissed. "The Waterboy" was Sandlers worst film, IMO.

You did see "Little Nicky" and/or "Billy Madison" right?
Back on topic, this can't be a serious remake. It has to be in the "Starsky & Hutch" spoof range.
I'm O.K. with that, even if it sucks. It's a totally different movie at that point. If they try to stay faithful to the original feel and it blows? Then I'll be a little upset.
The original was one of the first "grown up" movies I ever got to see...so it kind of sticks with me.
I think he broke his freakin' neck!

I haven't seen "Billy Madison" yet. "Little Nicky" I did enjoy as I wasn't expecting much from it. A bit of a guilty pleasure watching it.
I don't think the remake could be a "Starsky and Hutch"-type spoof as the original Longest Yard was also a comedy. | oldschoolhero

If you like 'REAL' futball, go rent or buy it... it's pretty much on par with Stallone's VICTORY, as soccor films go.
