One of my favorite movies from the 80's and I've been waiting for someone to re-make this for a long time. I was hoping with todays special effects they could really make this into an awesome movie. So far I'm kinda on the fence after watching the trailer

Some interesting casting in the film:

Chris Hemsworth (Thor)
Josh Hutcherson (Peeta, Hunger Games)
Josh Peck (Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh)
Connor Cruise (Tom Cruise's son)

Why are you on the fence?

My reason for not being completely on board for now is that the original was such a great underdog story.
It didn't rely on special effects, I don't remember any big explosions, it just had a bunch of kids who were basically out of their league but held on against all odds.

This trailer? By making Hemsworth a marine and introducing a secret weapon that they must go after they change the premise of the story from the get go.
Other than that, the small town feel seems there and who knows, it might be surprisingly good.

I probably wasn't going to see it in the theatre anyways but definitely will check it out once it shows up on dvd.

Great start to the season. As tough as it was on Pam/Jim/Roy - I think the real tragedy in the whole love triangle is that "Scrantonicity" did not get to play at the wedding. How is Kevin dealing with all of this ?
